The absolute biggest news from day 2 of the 2010 Adult Entertainment Expo is the news that Evan Stone has been cast to play The Riddler in Alex Braun's upcoming Batman parody. This very well may be the single best casting move in a porn that we've seen since Not The Cosby's XXX. As with everything he does, Evan is taking his role as The Riddler very seriously doing a ton of research on the classic Batman series for his take on The Riddler. To say we can't wait to see this film is a huge understatement.
We also got word that Dave Navarro, is working on mounting a new film. "What I want to do is big and so we're working on putting the budget together for it," commented Navarro. It's been a while since we saw anything from Navarro, and so we simply can't wait. Navarro had Jaymie Langford on his arm while he walked the show floor. I hate to say Jaymie Langford wasn't looking all that
great, she looked really thin, dragged out was sporting a new grill. Really a shame considering how devistatingly beautiful she can be.
Today was the first day that the Adult Entertainment Expo was open to fans, and the crowds were solid. One of the most rowdy areas of the convention floor was at the Elegant Angel booth where Tori Black, Kristina Rose and Alexis Texas had the crowd hooting and hollering to a deafening level. Tori seems to have really pushed herself out there to connect and stimulate her fans, it's nice to see her continue to grow as a performer.
Jesse Jane was also mobbed, both at the Digital Playground booth and at the Fleshlight booth, where they were debuting her signature fleshlight. It's great to see Digital Playground branch out and work with a variety of companies on their toys, their previous effort in this space wasn't a home run. Each of the Digital Playground girls wore mini-vibes on necklace chains which were quite interesting.
Other performers mobbed by crowds include Belladonna (who always has one of the bigger lines). Kayden Kross, who again looked beyond amazing and the Vivid booth where crowds seemed to love both Aj Bailey.
For me one of the greatest discoveries of the show was the prototype for a new sex toy from Minna called the Ola. This toy completely revolutionizes the way people interface with their vibrator. Rather than doing a dial or switch it responds how hard you grip it. The product is absolute genius and one of the best new sex toy's I've seen in years. It is slated to hit stores in about six months and I've got the date now circled on my calendar.
Here's a demo of the Ola:
After hearing performer after performer rave about Manuel Ferrara I decided to go directly to the source and sat down with him for an interview. It was amazingly clear to me as I spoke to Manuel just on top of his game he is. Manuel talked a lot about his Raw series, Raw 2 made our Top 10 list for 2009 in a virtual dead heat with 2040 for one of the top spots. Manuel talked about Raw 3 and his scenes with Asa Akira and Bobbi Starr. After hearing about Raw 3, it quickly became one of the absolutely most anticipated release for us in 2010.
Another thing which I found to be impressive at the show were the Spiegler Girls. I got the real sense that the performers under Spiegler management are quite focused at making a serious run at their careers. Most notably were Andy San Dimas, Julze Ventura and Dana DeArmond (who has clearly made a serious investment in upping her game and bringing her career to another level).
Outside of performers there were a number of simply odd products making a pitch to the adult consumers. I was particularly amused by a company selling condoms with a characture of President Obama on them. There was also a company called Fresh Balls hawking a cream to help keep a guys fresh and dry and of course a myriad of companies who were trying to sell herbal alternatives to viagra. The one company in that class I liked the best was Raw Nation, whose Hotrawks daily supplement seemed to be a quality approach to providing a solid long term solution to guys who need a little help.
While a lot of the action was on the front section of the show, this year fans had reason to venture beyond the first few rows of booths. The main stage of the show was used a lot better this year and fans seemed to be very interested to stand, watch and listen to the variety of things going on with the main stage. While I was there I heard Evan Stone talking about being a porn star and jaYmie waXman give sex advice.
The only downside so far of the show is the fact that I've completely lost my voice. It's made doing interviews tough, but I've managed to limp along with my raspy voice and get them done. But 2 days into the expo and I really feel it's been a very solid year.
