On a recent trip to Philadelphia to visit my favorite dancer and adult model, Miss Kate Hate, we had the opportunity to have lunch with the well know directors and producers of PopPorn, Brian Bangs and Spock Buckton. During lunch, I had the chance to ask them a few questions for XCritic, their fans and our readers.

If you know anything about PopPorn or these two gentlemen, you know they have a unique sense of humor and play off of each other extremely well. I have seen them on camera and read their blog constantly, but in person they are unbelievable and at times I felt as if I was sitting front row at one of the greatest vaudeville shows you could attend.

We talked about many things including their most recent release, “Bang 'Em All” under Diabolic's label that I personally reviewed and rated as a “Highly Recommended” dvd. It is unique, creative, full of fun and with great sex.

As I listened, I learned they enjoy comics and as I watched, I saw they love drinking. They were non stop entertainment, right up till the end. Even as we were saying good bye on the steps of the restaurant, Brian Bangs reached over and flashed, Miss Kate Hate’s boobs to the entire city of Philadelphia.

Brian and Spock, tell me a little about all what you do.

In a nutshell, we do a little bit of everything. We run POPPORN.com, a sort of adult news blog that might be better compared to The Onion than say, AVN. We direct adult films, we shoot short films and interviews with adult performers, we read comic books and we drink.

How do you build your movies and scripts?

We select and write our scripts together, continually bouncing ideas of each other, We look at our work as independent comedy with sex. We don’t look at it porn. Our idea of a movie, runs a typical 90 minutes and is a comedy with 10 minute sex scenes built into them. We don’t think the sex scenes should be real drawn out. Watching our movies is like watching a comedy that you can also ejaculate too. We are working to set new standard for sex scenes. Popporn, is an enhanced script. It is solid consideration, we never satirize it and it is not an exact recreation. Some good examples are Jersey Shore and Delinquents.

Where to you shoot your movies?

We do all our features out on the west cost and now are doing amateur shoots for Diabolic, here on the east cost. In fact we have just recently shot one in Atlantic City.

How do you select the performers for both your main features and also your amateur dvds?

Honestly, for our our features, we pick performers we think look right for the part or seem cool...or we're attracted to. It's pretty unscientific. In some cases, we meet a performer before we've ever worked with them and if we get along with them we figure, why not put a friend into one of our films? As for amateur content, it's not nearly as exciting. We're just always on the look out for new performers that seem cool and are attractive. The amateur world of porn is a lot more open with a lot of flexibility.

What was your funniest moment on set or in scene?

Actually it would be in the Behind The Scenes of the Official Jersey Shore Parody with Spock Buxton, Christian Rose and James Deen.

What do you guys do with your down time?

Drink! Oh and Comic Books! They are awesome. Every Wednesday we head down to Script Comic Books to pick up some new ones. Some of what we like are Super Heroes, X-Men and GI Joe. Were just a bunch of nerds into comics with cliff hangers.

What advice do you have for newcomers into the business.

Be logical before you do anything and talk with others in the business.

Recently you have been nominated for four AVN Awards, Best Parody - Official Jersey Shore Parody, Best Comedy - Delinquents, Best Non-Sex Performance - Spock Buckton - Delinquents, Best Overall Marketing Campaign (individual project) - Official Jersey Shore Parody. That is a pretty good line up. Are there any comments you would like to make on these nominations?

Of course, it should come as no surprise that the two films POPPORN wrote and directed this year were nominated for two awards each. I mean, c'mon, let's be honest, we're geniuses. However, that's not to say we don't want to offer the standard, "Thank you's" and "We're so flattered" to the folks that nominated us, but we'd like to add in a few, "Well sure, why wouldn't we be nominated?" and "Of course's" into the mix because frankly, we're full of ourselves.

So, what does PopPorn have brewing right now or ideas for upcoming videos?

We're actually starting work on our next parody. We'll be shooting Official Revenge of the Nerds Parody this January in Los Angeles, then we'll be shooting another original comedy...we try not to plan out too far in advance since things change so much. We'll also be heading out to AVN in January to shoot tons of interviews with performers and short skits for the POPPORN.com site.
