Does Girth Matter?

We've all heard about length, but what about girth? Women, which would you prefer (assuming all other things equal), a 7-8" man with small girth, or a 4-5" man with major girth. The reason I ask is because I am average in length, but am a "wide-clyde" when it comes to diameter. I've even had hookers at brothels comment to me about it, and I figure they've seen everything. Comments/Opinions welcomed.

This is a speculation of course, but in terms of actually doing it - rather than in terms of her looking at it - I think girth is probably more important. I mean most of the nerve endings are at the front end anyway.

The downside to girth is having too much. There have been many women that were actually in pain more than pleasure with me. My wife wasn't sure she could handle me when she first saw me.

You forget to preface your post with "For homosexual men," because I doubt that you've had much experience having your vagina penetrated. :)

I would say it depends on the woman. I've met girls who liked it "deep" (banging on the cervix) so length would be important here. Some others prefered the wide load. Most prefere a thinner, longer penis when giving oral. Everyone goes to the dentist right. How comfortable is it to have your mouth open as wide as you possibly can for any length of time? Not very.
Going back to penetration, a lot also depends on whether or not the woman is "vaginale" or "clitoridienne", i.e. achieves orgasm mainly through vaginal or clitoris stimulation.

Well here's the dillyo.... I'm a good lengthy size with a nice average girth. But mine also has a slight bend towards the left. The women I have been with have not commented on whether my "bend" made them feel any pleasure or not. And I always for get to ask. But now I'm curious. Women, have any of you been with a guy with a slight curve either to the left or right? Has it "enhanced" your pleasure in any way? Same here. I'm a small person.. *ahem* ..even there, and if it's too long it's hard to orgasm because it doesn't hit the right spots as easily, but there are ways to work around it. And I'll repeat what I said above....girth is very nice. :)

Quite a few guys have certain bends in them... as far as I personally care, there are like almost no pleasure receptors way up in a vagina, so I don't think it really helps/hurts much at all. Besides, its really not even how big it is anyways, its about fingers and tongues!

I just had to bump this one, after wondering about this I went ahead and measured my girth. About 4 7/8 inches. Length is about 6 1/4.

I think that's on the large side of average. I think I read somewhere that average is 5-6 length and 4-4 1/2 thick.

So divide that by 2.4 and you get 5 inches.

But it varies with each study. Average is (I think) 4 1/2 inches.

I am EXACTRLY average in length and girth. A little tiny bitt less than 6 inches and very very close (a tiny bit more) than 4 1/2 icnhes girth.

DAMN IT!!!! I'm glad you bumped this thread as I missed it the first time around.

I have a question here. Your last sentence seems to imply that it should be larger at the base. Is that true, because it's not the case with me. I measured halfway down (because as Bushdog said, that's where it's the biggest :))

Also, since girth is basically all the way around (circumference) 2 with the same girth could be vastly different due to different aspect ratio (OK, I couldn't think of any better description, and I figured this IS DVDTalk, so you should be able to figure out what I'm talking about.) So, which component of girth is more important: width (side to side) or thickness (top to bottom). Or is it best to be perfectly circular. :)

The Maglite I have is exactly 5, so I know I am measuring correctly by my tape, but I must say looking at the maglite it looks a lot thicker. Then again I don't normally have this close of a look. I measured at the halfway, but my base I can't imagine is that much different.

the reason i say that it should be widest at the base is due to anatomy. the penis is made of three caverns, two of them split off into a Y shape to form the crux of the penis. perhaps that part is too far inside the abdomen/pelvis during erection to be measured, i dont really know.

7--circular is nice. that is why it feels nicer to be penetrated by a penis than three fingers--same girth, different shape. well, there are other obvious reasons, too.. but the way a penis is made prevents it from ever being a perfect circle. i highly doubt you are much different up/down girth vs side/side girth, but if you are, i would recommend sex in a few different positions so your up/down penis axis is not always the up/down vagina axis of the woman.

You're probably right, it probably just looks that way from my POV. It's widest side to side at the top where I can see it but top to bottom right at the center, so it's hard to tell. It's definitely not a circle, but more of a rounded off triangle. Probably not that different like you said, but I'll keep your advice in mind. For now, I'd just like the chance to try 1 position. :D But, hey! I had a lunch date today, she is supposed to come over tomorrow night after I get off work to watch a movie, and it's snowing so maybe Hell froze over or something. :-)

I wasn't really worried about it or anything, just curious. I was only ever slightly worried about size. Mostly just technique and 1 other thing which I'm not sure if I should ask about. On the underside of the shaft, there is sort of a line that runs down the length of it. I've always wondered if that's natural and all guys have them, or if it's a scar from some horrible surgery or something when I was a little kid that I don't remember and I'm just a freak. Since I've never seen another guys from that angle, I don't know and I've always been kind of self-conscious about it. And, I swear this is my last question. :)

Maybe I am odd, but I don't understand you guys. As a fellow male, I can't say I'm obsessed with my penis. Sure, when I see another guys penis on p0rno or website and it is above average, I still get alittle ashamed, but I am nowhere near obssesed as to go measuring my lenght and width. Nor am I so obsessed that I'm ashamed of what I have. It's average, nothing more and nothing less. However, I'm comfortable with it , so when I am engaged in sexual activity I'm no worried about how my size is suiting her, instead, I am more free and relaxed, which allows a lot more situations in my opinion!

My point? Be happy with what you got. Don't be uncomfortable with it. If it's below average, learn to use it more effective and learn more tactics.
