What is considered "Rough Sex" and whats the groundrules?

What do you consider "Rough Sex" and whats common play in this form of sexual pleasure?

one rule of thumb I heard for rough/kinky sex is is that you should always have an 'escape word' ... A word that is agreed upon beforehand, and if either person says it, the other knows to stop immediately. That way you can say things like "no" or "stop" as a part of the sex act without risking going too far. (the escape word should be something like "table" or "orange"... words that are not sexual in nature and don't sound like any words that are sexual)

You don't want to segue into rough sex. You have to negotiate it through in advance. What's okay, what's not, what you might want to try. It might sound like you're losing the spontaneity, but all you're doing is defining the limits within which you can be spontaneous.

It's whatever you and your partner define as rough sex. For some people it might be light spanking, for others whips and chains.

I agree that rough sex is the type of sex you discuss beforehand. I always used "blue" as a safe word. And, that word has to be used by itself, like you would use the term "NO!" or "OW!", and not in a sentance with other words. I'm surprised that more people haven't heard of this concept -- it's pretty much a nessesscity if you get into true, heavy, BDSM play.
