I keep hearing people talk about "the" scene from Capone(1975) with a full on leg spread but have yet to see it. Can't find a copy anywhere. But this has me wondering, what are some of the most explicit non-porn movies that have been released?

Maybe I'm missing something here, but what's so explicit about a "leg spread"? (What exactly is a leg spread, anyway?)

Hollywood or non-Hollywood?:
"The Lover" comes to mind

I've seen a few flicks lately that were not X-rated, but they one was an indy and the other was French IIRC.
But you only want mainstream? People always say "Last Tango in Paris".

Is Caligula (http://us.imdb.com/Title?0080491) considered mainstream? The original version was unrated in the US. Pretty graphic when it came to the Roman orgies.

In the movie she supposedly spreads her legs and shows her vagina, full lips and all.

It doesn't have to be mainstream in that sense, but I meant more along the lines of no xxx porn. The movies you mentioned are exactly what I meant.

Wild Orchid and 9 1/2 Weeks weren't exactly mainstream, but you can rent them at video stores.
Wasn't the long version of Caligula rated X?
If all you want is a beaver shot, there's Basic Instinct.

the original theatrical poster of "Caligula" was unrated and carried a claimer "no one under 17" admitted.

Ah, sorry, I totally missed the "mainstream" word in the title. I thought we were talking about porn flicks here. :)

I've seen screencaps of the scene from "Capone."
You can't really see much, the scene is kind of blurry and grainy, at least the VHS caps were. Not a whole lot of detail, if you know what I mean.
Now if this were to come out on DVD...

I'd say Last Tango In Paris for being pretty mainstream and graphic (not to mention a quality butter endorsement).
Romance is also almost porn-like explicit, but is indeed a real movie...

Where is a good place to view screencaps? I would rather like a free site if there is a good 1.

There aren't many free sites around; most are paysites.
A good source for freebies, though, is usenet.

Explicit mainstream movies:
"Romance," already mentioned. Has a couple of scenes of actual oral sex, Rocco Sifredi, bondage, a full-view gyno-examination.
"Base-Moi." Haven't seen it, but I've heard about it.
"Intimacy." Kerry Fox nude and performing actual oral.
"Devil In the Flesh." From the 80s. Maruschka Detmers performing oral. Runs around nude a lot, too.
On the milder side...
"Psycho." The remake. When Anne Heche is slumped over the side of the tub, you can sort of see her anus. At least Kevin Smith said so. Even with the advanced resolution of DVD, it's kind of hard to tell, but possible.
"Crash" much nudity, esp. from Deborah Unger, including a close-up her... womanhood.
"8 1/2 Women" Toni Collette goes full-frontal and shaven.
Yes, I know too much about this stuff...

I can't seem to recall the Crash scene. Do you have a time frame for that scene? Just the of of Deb Unger up close and personal.

hmm, i thought it was easy to spot her wearing a flesh thong, not positive but that's what i remember.
there is some hairless snatch briefly seen from behind in the Attic Expedition. i don't seek this stuff out, but i am really good at spotting it :D
heh i rented it from blockbuster too.
and while i'm at it, if your eye is quick enough you can spot an upskirt of julia roberts in the pelican brief, denise richards in starship troopers, and jenifer love hewit... i forget the name *sniff* she was a babysitter or something...

Usenet is a very old -- and now mostly forgotten -- part of the internet, dating back over twenty years. It functions a lot like a messageboard.
Usenet is broken down into thousands of newsgroups that are devoted to specific subjects. Within the newsgroup, users can post and respond to messages. The messages are kept up for anywhere from a couple of days to several weeks, depending on how long your news server keeps them up.
A newsgroup will be named somthing like this:
rec.arts.sf.tv.babylon5.moderated
alt.tv.buffy-v-slayer
To access Usenet, you'll need a newsreader program. Outlook Express is one, and FreeAgent is another.
Chances are, your ISP offers a news server, so it's probably best to check with whoever your ISP is. All you have to do is configure your newsreader to your newsagent, and you're ready to go. The news server is just an address like this: news.[yourisp]
Using Usenet is very similar to using e-mail, especially in setting up your newsreader.
Usenet was originally designed to handle text-based messages, but any kind of file can be posted or downloaded. This is done by encoding them as "binaries." A binary is simply a file, such as an image file, that is encoded into a large ASCII file that usenet and the newsreader can download and read.
Any binaries files that you download will need to be decoded before they can be opened, and the newsreader should do that. Particularly large binaries will usually be broken down into smaller posts and then have to be combined, which your newsreader should be able to do. Files like this will all have the same header, except for a numbering scheme like this: [1/17] , [2/17] , [3/17].... [17/17]. In order to download the binary, each of these posts will have to be downloaded and then combined.

I wouldn't say Wild Orchid but 9 1/2 Weeks was definitely mainstream. I think Zalman King (and Mickey Rourke) got in trouble somehow for both films as it was later revealed that both depicted actual pentration between the actors (you'll know what I mean when you've seen Wild Orchid). ;)
While on the subject of Mickey Rourke, Angel Heart is pretty racy. Breathless with Richard Gere has a lot of nudity in it too.

I've never seen the film but it's my understanding the scenes with the real actors (McDowell, O'Toole, Mirren, etc) were shot and then nude hardcore/softcore scenes were shot completely separatelyand then edited into the film later, unbenownst to any of the stars. Technically it's graphic sex but if someone edited nearly unconnected porn into any film, you'd have the same thing.

Mostly forgotten? Where have you been? I've been using Usenet ever since I stumbled onto the internet back in 91-92.

Mickey Rourke and Carre Otis had sex ... I knew that one. But did Rourke and Basinger have actual sex too? I wasn't aware of that.

I have this one. The sex scenes are graphic but there arent many of them. There is a gang rape scene early on thats fairly brutal and not sexy in the least and the girls go on a killing spree in a sex club later on where you see penatration. I think the gore shots are better than the sex shots in it myself. There is an unflinching closeup gunshot to the head thats pretty impressive. Decent exploitation flick if youre a gore hound but I wouldnt recommend it if youre looking for something arousing.

There is also a Shannon Tweed movie, at least according to Mr. Skin that has actual penetration which can be seen in several frames. I don't have a membership or I would share.

I thought the love scene in the Alec Baldwin/Kim Basinger movie "The Getaway" was pretty steamy (but not overtly explicit)

ROMPER STOMPER
Look real close at the second sex scene (not the one with Crowe) and you will notice that there is penetration going on. The two actors became a real life couple while making the movie .

I don't believe so. But Kim Basinger said that she got scars on her back from that quickie in the alley. It was a real alley with metal things poking out of the bricks. I do know that it was a body double with the ice cube.

That's my understanding too...because I have that DVD. It's pretty funny b/c you can totally tell that the movie was shot, and new footage was later added in to make it more explicit. Not a good movie, but pretty explicit for a pseudo-mainstream movie.

Rent this, don't buy it. It's basically french adult film stars so the acting is pretty bad.

If youre into low budget exploitation flicks bad acting doesnt bother you. :D But like I said, get it for the violence dont expect the Zalman King type american soft focus stuff. Its not titillating in the least, its fairly brutal.

From what I have read about "Caligula" Tinto Brass never actually shot the real hardcore sex scenes, Guccione stepped in had the additional scenes directed and shot by someone else and reinstated them himself to further 'enhance" the film.
I also felt the rape scene in "Baise Moi" to be quite repellent and hard to watch, the actress really played her part well and didn't look liked she enjoyed it at all.
