View Full Version : Birth control? (Is the pill enough?)

Back when I was with my ex, she was on the pill and I would use condoms, just because we really really really couldn't afford her getting pregnant. Sometimes we would splurge on a no condom night, but not that often. Anyways, I was wondering if it is general practice to not use condoms if she is on the pill. Is that enough protection in itself, or does someone advise some sort of combination of pill with the rhythm method? Just curious. :)

For 4 years with my ex-fiancee, I had unprotected sex with her. She may have been on the pill, and nothing resulted from this, but in hindsight I can say that I was damn lucky ...
There is a risk with anything that you do in life. The pill isn't 100% and neither are condoms. But together, it's much safer than doing what I (we) did ...

Get a vasectomy. Then you won't have to worry about it again :D

As long as she a) doesn't forget b) takes it the same time every day, and c) doesn't take any antibiotics or other drugs that can interfere, you should be in smooth sailing.

Use both to be really safe. The pill should be a back-up just in case the condom breaks.
