Milla Jovovich... underage nudity???

Flipping through the channels today I came across a movie from 1991 called Return to the Blue Lagoon. It had Milla in it, so I decided to watch it for a minute. Then she gets topless and goes swimming, and I'm thinking WTF? She looks way too young to be doing a nude scene. Well, I just looked it up, and sure enough, she did that movie when she was about 15 or 16 (she was born in 1975). So... does anyone know this was legally done?

How was the movie shot? Did you see her face at the same time, or could there have been a body double used?

If the nudity was in a non-sexual context, it could have been legal. Thora Birch was underage when she filmer her nude scene in "American Beauty."

Thora's was legal because her parents gave their consent; it wasn't legal because of the context.

Maybe Milla's parents gave their consent for her role...

I thought Thora Birch and Mena sovari were both over 18 when they filmed american beauty? As for Milla, I'm sure either she got a body double (unlikely) or she (and whoever made the movie) didnt really care :D

Thora was 17 and Mena was 23...

Speaking of Milla, she was 16 when she filmed in The Return to Blue Lagoon. From what I heard, they used body double in nudity scene.

Her parents giving consent and being present when the scene was shot was a part of it, but under California law, context most certainly was a requirement. The nude scene in question could not have a sexual connotation or it would have been illegal.

If context didn't matter, imagine all the sleazeball parents who would be signing over their children for simulated kiddie porn.

They used a body double for Brooke Shields in the original Blue Lagoon so I would assume they used one for Milla in the Return.
