My g/f thinking about getting clit pierced.

My g/f is wanting to get a tattoo or a piercing sometime in the near future. I really do not want her to get a tattoo since I don't think they are attractive. I am all for her to get her tongue or clit pierced though. The only problem with the tongue is that her mom doesn't want her to get a tongue piercing and would prefer her to get a tattoo. But, she would never know about her clit being pierced :)

I was looking at some web sites and it doesn't seem like that big of a risk. Her main concerns is loosing sensitiveity in general down below, chances of getting infected, and how long "No sex" will go for. Oh, and the pain is another factor she wonders about.

Any woman with this piercing here? Seems to be a pretty common thing these days. I watched a few of those Girls Gone Wild dvds and tons of girls have their clits pierced. Also, I see you can get the hood pierced / or the actual clit itsself. Is there really a difference?

If you're talking about piercing the actual clitoris, the risk of nerve damage to that little bundle of joy overweighs any benefit that I can think of.

I've heard a bit about clit piercings. They are apparently quite a bit of fun and cause some girls to orgasm from just sitting down-- but then I've also heard that basically all the sensation is lost after about a year.

I don't know if that's true or not, but it doesn't sound like a safe place to have a piercing to me.

The clit on the women is what the glans penis is on for men. I think that's how it goes from general biology classes. I imagine it would be extremely painful to have it done. I certainly couldn't imagine me piercing my glans penis.

I'd recommend a hood and/ or labia piercing instead of a direct clit piercing. I've read a little bit about it and while it does sometimes provide hyper-stimulation (i.e. orgasms while walking, rocking leg, etc.) for a while, sensation sometimes completely leaves the clit after a time. I actually talked to a girl online who was initially kept very excited and aroused by the piercing and the great feelings it gave her and who now stays aroused and wet a lot because she's not able to orgasm from the loss of sensation. I've never read of any real problems from hood piercings though, if everything is kept clean while it's healing.

I'll jump in here. I've been doing body piercing professionally for the last 4 years at a shop in Ohio and have pretty much everything pierced that can be.

Do not get the actual clitoris pierced! She will lose sensation as scar tissue forms. Go with a hood piercing. This can be done horizontal or vertical depending on her. Most go with the vertical as it will provide more stimulation. This piercing is for her pleasure only. Done correctly your thrusting during sex will transmit throught the jewelry and stimulate her. The initial piercing should be done with a hoop. Don't trust anyone who wants to pierce that area with a barbell. She can switch to a 7/16 curved barbell in 6 to 8 weeks. Don't go any larger than 14 gauge. The weight of the jewelry will cause the piercing to stretch and may pull through. Those piercings can close up quickly, ie overnight. Also you have to leave it alone for a few days, I recommend a week, before you go after it. The pain factor is small.

As for the tongue piercing, it is probably one of the safest and most sensible piercings. The chance of infection is very small and it leaves no visible scar when removed. The worst part is the kids who don't switch to a shorter barbell after the healing and walk around with their tongues stuck out. Also the longer barbell means more chance of cracking teeth.

Nipple piercings are great, but painful. However, the benefits far outweigh the momentary discomfort. I had one torn out about 2 years ago and couldn't wait to have it done again.

As for the remark about going through the metal detector at airports. Let's just say there's a security guard in Tulsa who is probably still having nightmares. ;)

Some do. I won't do them in my shop. To be done properly the clitoris needs to be 3/4 of an inch long and most don't meet that measurement. Some shops will pierce anything just for the money and could care less about the client when they walk out the door. Fortunately for me it is only a part-time job, just evenings and some weekends, so I don't need the money and can be more selective. I have talked several people out of piercings I felt were wrong or not thought out completely.
