Madonna sex book?

No, it's not fake.

About twelve years ago, Madonna, at the pinnacle of her self-indulgence, published a book called SEX.

It cost about fifty dollars, came in a mylar bag, and had some kind of crappy binding that made the thing fall apart after you "read" it.

It was essentially a book full of photographs and pretentious poetry/prose.

The content consisted of about half naked Madonna and half gay men. I may be misremembering, though, as I was a homophobic teenager at the time and was paranoid about anything that might be interpreted as being "gay."

It was pretty much crap, and has no real value other than kitsch.

Essentially it's a cheaply bound book of pictures of a woman who doesn't look that good naked.

Got it as an Xmas present and it's actually something quite interesting to look at. Madonna, at one point or another was quite shaggable.

It's also quite funny to as you have multiple collages of relatively famous people participating in these photo shoots. The one that made me laugh was one with Big Daddy Kane (with a raging hard on) along with Madonna and Naomi Campbell (iirc) - where's Big Daddy Kane now?

I don't think they actually banged (at least not in front of the camera). I have a "home video" VHS of the photographic sessions for that book, and during the Vanilla Ice part, Madonna is on her knees in front of him and is desperately trying to get his pants down to BJ him, and Ice practically has to slap her face a couple of times as he resists. Obviously he was a little bit more uncomfortable with public sex than she was.

The book actually has a metal ring binding similar to a notebook and the cover is metal with the word SEX stamped into it.

I think there was only one printing of it, and it was never available to flip through in bookstores. It was sealed in a mylar pouch and was released in conjunction with the "Erotica" LP. There is also a mylar pouch inside the book which contained a CD single version of the song "Erotic", I think.

Haven't looked at my copy since '92 when I got it. I suppose it was a little shocking at the time, but all in all it is actually timid in modern times. A curiosity at best - kind of a waste of $50.

Then sell it on Ebay. They go for $75-150 most of the time.

I remember seeing a record store in Boston near Fenway Park that had about ten of them still sealed for $35 each. I wanted to buy them but I couldn't carry them with me since I was with a band on a tour bus.

The damn place burned down not long after that.
