I have been curious about that for a while .. but I just stumbled over reading somewhere that Apocalypse Now was the first movie in DD5.1 .. and while the DVD (the non redux one) seems to be barebone .. the sound surely sounds great ..
what others were earlies ? i would guess the star wars and Indy Jones ones ? but other landmarks ??

Wrong forum, but...
It wasn't Dolby Digital, but it was a 5.1-ish mult-channel surround mix. Lots of films released on 70mm, such as Apocalypse Now, included a 6-track sound mix, which was the predecessor to the 5.1 digital sound formats. It was, as far as I know, the same basic idea as 5.1; three front speakers, stereo surround, and a bass channel.
The regular 35mm prints included regular old Dolby Stereo, which is the same as Dolby Pro-Logic in home theaters.
Now, then, why the HELL did you post this in the mature forum? ;)

Maybe he's talking about the movie, um, uh... A Parting Lips Now... or Pump Her Lips Now... (grasping at straws here)
