With all the sexually transmitted diseases going around these days, how long should one wait before you start going down on a woman? I got into this conversation at work and most of us agreed that they would have to date for some time to really get to know their partner such as past sexual history. Some did say that they would do it on their first encounter. I said I would maybe on the first encounter if I had some tongue condoms!

As long as you do not swallow any blood or sexual fluids, you are almost 99.99999999999999999% free of any STDs.

Not true. Swallowing has little to do with transmission of STDs.

I'm sure herpes is one, and swallowing blood or fluids would have nothing to do with contracting that disease anyway.

Unfortunately, herpes simplex 2 (usually limited to the genital region) can be transmitted quite easily to the mouth during oral sex.

Off the top of my head, other STDs include HIV, hepatitis B/C, Clamydia trachomatis, Gardnerella vaginalis, Neisseria gonorrhea, Trichomona vaginalis, human papilloma virus...

Nice list!

Also, syphilis (hard chancre), Haemophilus ducreyi (soft chancre), lymphogranuloma venereum (C. trachomatis LGV strain), granuloma inguinale (Calymmatobacterium granulomatis ), and molluscum contagiosum.

Of course, these are the rare baddies not usually found in the US. Besides, you probably wouldn't want to be putting your mouth on any of these visible lesions! ;)

Well how does the flood get into you when you are having oral sex then?

Blood and sexual fluid are the only things that carry sexual disease.

Mucosal absorption. Tears in the oral mucosa. Thin mucosal surfaces absorb things pretty well. That's why people snort drugs through their nose.
