View Full Version : Hondas suck! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!

Forgive me for ranting but I can take Hondas anymore! I know it's for my own safety that they make that annoying beep go 6 times every 2 minutes until I put my seatbelt on.

I bought a 2006 CRV SE last month. Last weekend I drove by the lake and my girl gave me an oral treat in the front seat. I'm all done and start the car and proceed slowly toward Route 1. Can a guy get a couple of minutes until I put my seatbelt on? No...BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!

For Christ's sake, I just blew my load and I don't need this aggravation right away. Two minutes later it starts again...BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! On top of that my girl put her arm around me and is holding my hand....I guess she wants to cuddle up. I hate cuddling, I just blew my load and need to be left alone....BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! I'm friggin tired and don't want to reach around and pull that seatbelt on yet...I just want to drive home.

Is there anyway to turn this feature off? I can't take it anymore!!!

Actually, this must be a new "feature", cause I don't have this happen in my car.

Sounds more like someone just wanted to taunt us married folks by boasting about getting a bj. :grunt:

Can't a guy put his seat belt on before he hits the gas pedal? Didn't you pay attention in drivers ed or where you too busy getting oral treats from the teacher? BEEP BEEP BEEP

I have an Element and it does the same thing.

I tried reading up about it right after I bought it and the only way to stop it is to go into the steering column and cut one of the wires. It sounded like too much so I never did anything about it.

It does seem it's only on the trucks, I had a new Accord as a loaner car a couple of months ago and no beep from that.

My Accord does the same thing, but I never hear it. Why? Because I put my seatbelt on before I start the car.

 I felt the same way about the damn seat belt nazi alarm in my '05 Camry. I too made the mistake of asking others on an internet forum how to disable the chime. I was immediately bombarded with comments of WEAR YOUR SEATBELT YOU DUMBASS OMG!!! LOL!! OMG OMG OMG!!!!

Then one kind person on a Toyota Mattrix forum actually posted up how to do it on the same year Mattrix. Thinking that Toyota wouldn't waste money to design a different system for each model car, I tried the steps and they worked fine.

I then went back into the thread where I was being scolded for not wearing my seat belt and posted how to do it and confirmed it worked on the Camry.

I was shocked how many people came back into the thread and thanked me.

Even more continued to lecture me on the wonders of seat belt safety. I guess it never occured to anyone that I do wear my seatbelt, but there are times (like what Porno Star explains above) that you would just rather not put it on. I can list 10 examples easily, and if I died doing any of them, oh well, my bad. I ride motorcycles that don't even have seat belts (GASP _ OMG!!) so I obviously take much bigger risks for myself than not putting my seatbelt on to drive a keg 3 blocks down to my neighbors house at 15 mph :)

This forum http://www.hondasuv.com/stg/index.php?c=1 should be of some help, but all I saw were seat belt preaching momies that offered no helpful advice. Maybe one day someone will post up how to do it on a Honda. I guarentee there is a way.

If you are curious, the Toyota method is this (works on 05-06 corolla, camry, mattrix, avalon, highlander, and I am sure some other models)

- put in your key and turn the car on, do not start the engine

- Set the LCD on the combination meter to the ODO trip setting

- turn key to off for a minute

- turn key back on (do not start)

- Press and hold the TRIP meter reset knob for ten seconds or more *AND* within six seconds of turning the ignition switch to the ON position --> Fasten the driver's seat belt while holding the knob (this is the tricky part)

- as soon as you fasen the belt, the LCD should change to b-???

You may have to hit the reset meter knob to cycle through b-ON to b-OFF (b-off, obviously turns the belt warning off)

- once you set it to b-off, just sit there and wait and the lcd will return to normal, turn the car off you are done.

I always wear my seatbelt but my Ford F-150 does a ring kind of tone every so often if you don't put it on.
I sometimes will start the truck to let it warm up, knowing I'll have to get out at the end of the driveway for mail or the paper. It's annoying, but a bj would take care of that.

my scion does this as well. i noticed it the other day when driving in the parking lot of a grocery store (I was heading over to the gas station in the same lot). i was like what the hell is this beeping?

what also sucks for the scion is if i have something sitting in the front passanger seat, like some books, under the radio there is a passanger seat belt warning thing and it continually flashes the whole time you are driving. i refuse to seat belt in a couple of books.

The main pupose of this thread was to complain about the constant beeping, however, the snuggling/cuddling also is extremely annoying. That night when I got home after 15 minutes of beeping, my girl wanted to cuddle. I was so tired...I mean, I just blew a load that had accumulated for 8 days. 8 days is a big load....a Peter North load if you know what I mean. I was dead tired but she insisted on spooning me. That's annoying!

If she wanted to cuddle after you blew eight days worth of spoo in her face, you should be grateful, not complaining.

By the time you remember how to do all that shit, why not just fasten the damn seat belt?

um, you only have to walk through those steps once (as long as your battery isn't disconnected you don't have to do it again).

I will also guess that you have never heard a seat belt chime in one of the newer Toyotas (I assume the Honda is the same).

It lasts for 90 seconds (no exageration) and it gets louder and faster.

and NO I won't wear my $@!#@$!#! seat belt when I am driving below 20 mph on neighborhood streets. Also, some of my electronic test equipment would set the seat belt alarm off when I placed it in the passenger seat area (the stupid car thought there was a person there without a seat belt on).

I want to state once again, I DO wear my seatbelt 99% of the time I am in the car. That 1% when I don't want to wear it, I don't want the stupid fucking car bleeping at me like an old nag. If there are a handful of steps I can run through (that take less than 5 minutes) to disable the beep I will do it. It's my version of Pimp your ride

I feel others have the right to do it as well and the auto makers should not keep it a secret.

**BTW- before I found out how to disable the damn thing, I buckled the belt behind the seat and never wore it. So Toyota was actually making me less safe by having the seat belt alarm be so obnoxious. Now I can wear it or not wear it and not be bothered with the alarm just like it should be.

If anyone would rather have the alarm, then ignore this thread and move on with your happy seat belt alarm self :)

...and then some yahoo will do this, get in an accident, and a passenger who wasn't wearing a seatbelt will sue the manufacturer for designing a seatbelt alarm which could be bypassed. Just you wait.

I wonder what the minimum weight is to consider a person is sitting in the seat. I'd put a 15lb backpack on the passenger seat of my Accord but my seat belt beep beep beep didn't come on. Also, I noticed that some wires are wired to the seat belt clip on the seats. I bet there an easy way to bypass the bleeping from there.

Accroding to Toyota, theirs is 15lbs exactly, so 14.5 lbs wouldn't do it. Honda, I have no idea.

Actually it is FAR easier to do the steps I listed (for Toyota anyway), it took about 2-3 minutes to insert the key and dance about as required :)

If you mess with the wiring, you will most likely disable your air bag. I looked at the schematic for the Toyota system and it was extremely complex (I hope it never breaks out of warranty so complex).

The only "easy" option would have been to go directly at the buzzer itself and disconnect it or glue it shut somehow. In my state safety inspection I would fail if I attacked the buzzer. It is the same buzzer that chimes when the key is in the ignition and the door is open (a must have for my state), so, I did the key dance steps and all is fine.

If you can, I recommend you find the key dance steps for Honda and post them here. I know all companies have them, they are just a secret (actually the more I looked, I did find the steps in the Toyota repair manual, it was hidden in an appedix and not very clear to follow, but was labelled a "test routine' for the chime)

I was going to post a new thread, but I might as well ask the question here. I own a 2005 Honda Accord LX, and I need to find a way to move the driver's seat back further than it currently goes. You see, I have an enormous penis, and when I'm offered oral sex in the car (and believe me, it happens a lot!) I don't have enough room to whip it out. Any suggestions?
