The newly edited version has an "R" rating and is made for the rental outlets as well as consumers that might not want explicit porn. The version I reviewed last year is STILL selling big, something relatively rare in porn, and the additional sales from this new version will probably introduce a lot more consumers to Digital Playground's other flicks.

Superb marketing on their part; give 'em a taste and reel them in for the good stuff as a result. :)

If you want to se good porn movies, then see Behind the Green Door, The Image and Devil in Miss Jones. And if you want to see a really charming and fun movie, see Taboo II. Ohhh Junior!

To stay on the thread- the acting in that movie (just saw some of the first 30 min tho) is still pretty horrid :) But its pretty nicely made considering...

I keep thinking the R rated version has to be like 50 minutes long? I mean if they cut the xxx stuff?

Wasn't the budget something like 6 million dollars? I remember reading that somewhere. I saw this video recently and I've gotta say, the acting may not be the best but it is probably the best feature porn movie I've seen. it's very enjoyable and easy going. I thought it was better than most of the gonzo stuff, etc.

And art is just annoying.

I have it. While it is a nice picture, it isn't great for porn. I am looking for more "bang for the buck" so to speak.

This movie would be very good "wife" porn, or girlfriend. Decent movie, with plot and some sex. No circus acts, anal, or deviant acts.

So it depends on what you are looking for, I wouldn't say it was $40 porn, but I would pay less thn $30 for ir. I like flashpoint better.

I've seen most of the above (I've never heard of "The Image" unless you mean the softcore S&M cable flick from the early 1970's) and I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. None of them are contemporary (Image and Devil being over 30 years old and at least as poorly acted if not worse than Pirates; and Taboo 2 looking like it was churned out overnight ~25 years ago with a lot of very short scenes), all of them look shitty, and the stroke value to most people is probably significantly weaker than Pirates or other recent porn flicks. Granted, there are "better" porn features for some people but the appeal of Pirates (and reason it got such favorable press) is that it certainly compares well to the vast majority of the 13500+ titles that came out in 2005.

If you read what I actually wrote, you'd have understood what I was saying: "if it had the gay action you wanted...". You want mainstream porn companies to embrace gay male action but there hasn't been a big rush of consumers backing your sentiments up. Considering sales have been so high for so long, and that the new version still appears to be available for rental at major outlets, I think the marketing/production decisions were pretty darned good. If you want to finance a "better" feature with all that gay male sex you enjoy so much, by all means do so and show "poor Joone" how receptive the public would be to such action (I can see the tagline now: "Based on the imagination of a real life Butt Pirate"). ;)

I read it was far, far less than that; coming in around mid-six figures (or less) but considering most porn is shot for under mid-five figures, the movie showed other companies that less isn't always more (the trend is to spend as little money as possible, making porn as disposable as possible).

ordered it as soon as I read this post. 20 bucks for pirates alone would have made me a happy dude, but with 3 other dvds you cannot go wrong.

The one thats wmv works fine on 360. Other wmv hd's have problems due ot copy protection or that they are on the data portion of a dvd video disc, so the 360 starts playing the video

Pirates was over-hyped and boring. I've seen many more movies with more heat and a greater range of sexual activity. I wanted to see dp's and gang-bangs but all we got was a ton of stupid lesbian scenes.
