With the arrival of the 3G iPod nano that can display 320x240 videos quite clearly, one openly wonders what will happen to adult web sites that have downloadable videos.

I think we'll see these web sites offer 320x240 videos in .MP4 format in addition to the more common Windows Media Video format. (Sure, you can convert WMV format videos to the .MP4 format on your computer, but that requires the purchase of third-party software and it's likely the conversion process could degrade the video quality.) I can see the likes of Playboy.com offer 20-minute monthly video podcasts of each Playmate of the Month in the 320x240 .MP4 format, essentially adding onto their Playboy Video On Demand service.

In short, the new 3G nano could very likely change adult web sites because of the potentially huge adult audience that suddenly became available.

I don't know...watching Cum Sluts 14 on the subway might be a little...uncomfortable.

Besides, it's not the first portable video player by a long shot.

Why would they do it now? The "classic" iPod has already been doing video for two years.

Why would they do it now? The "classic" iPod has already been doing video for two years.

Because of the fact that up until now, the iPods that can play video were much more expensive than the lower cost nanos that were audio only. But now with the nano capable to playing back 320x240 MP4 video and selling at reasonable prices, that right there drastically increases the audience, to say the least. This change--plus the arrival of the reasonable-cost Creative Zen player that can display 320x240 .WMV files--makes downloadable video files much more viable, given Apple's 78% marketshare for portable media players and with more and more Americans with broadband access.

In fact, in the "mainstream" world, expect an explosion of video podcasts due to the much larger audience now available.

It can handle 640x480 video which is almost DVD quality but yes, the display is only 320x240. It would be nice if we got some 640x480 MP4 files which will work on almost all devices instead of limiting everything to WMV.
