Let’s talk about sex…at Yale!
Event explores issues of love, sex, intimacy, relationships and features a day devoted to Vivid Entertainment, Sat., February 16th

New Haven, CT – On Yale’s storied campus, populated by some of the brightest young men and women on the planet, many students still haven’t figured out how to ask someone on a date. Others might even believe that coitus interruptus is a form of safe sex. This February, however, Sex Week at Yale comes to the rescue!

The bi-annual multi-disciplinary sex education program will take place February 11th – 18th, 2008. Relationship experts, authors, professors, TV personalities and even Vivid Entertainment adult superstars will descend upon Yale’s campus to partake in a week of thought-provoking questions, discussions, presentations and performances. The Week will include Relationship Day, Love Day, Seduction Day, Vivid Day, and more!

The Lineup
Included in this year’s all-star lineup are: Dr. Ruth Westheimer, Vivid Entertainment co-founder and co-chairman Steven Hirsch, adult superstars and Vivid Girls Monique Alexander and Savanna Samson, acclaimed Vivid director Paul Thomas, pornography legend Ron Jeremy and anti-porn crusader Craig Gross, VH1’s The Pick-up Artist’s Mystery and Matador, comedian Stevie Jay, relationship expert Pepper Schwartz, Pure Romance founder and CEO Patty Brisben, leading love and relationship experts Dr. Helen Fisher and Logan Levkoff and more.

Pure Romance Sponsorship
Sex Week again found presenting sponsorship from its generous benefactor Pure Romance, the leading in-home party company specializing in romance and relationship-enhancement products. Students stand to benefit from Pure Romance’s commitment to increasing sexual health among college-aged adults – a group too often simultaneously sexually active and sexually clueless. The company’s efforts include a national college tour, breast cancer program, and collaborative research studies at major universities (including the home of the Kinsey Institute).

Vivid Day – Saturday, February 16
2008 will mark the first time Sex Week at Yale has devoted a full day of the week to an adult entertainment company, Vivid Entertainment. Vivid is the world’s leading adult film company and is best known for its beautiful contract actresses, or Vivid Girls. Vivid co-chairman Steven Hirsch has been credited as almost single handedly moving the adult business into the mainstream.

SWAY’s Mission
SWAY is dedicated to the exploration of love, sex, intimacy, and relationships at Yale University. The organization’s mission is to get beyond the awkwardness, discomfort and taboo of conventional sex education programs and to get students talking about sex openly and realistically. As STIs, unplanned pregnancies, unrewarding relationships, and abuse remain a very real problem for college students, SWAY’s mission is infused with urgency to get students thinking honestly about their sexual health.

SWAY presents these serious topics in an entertaining and provocative manner. The program has become renowned as a collegiate awareness program for its ability to capture students’ attention and willingness to tackle difficult issues head-on. The diversity of events and speakers is a testament to SWAY’s mission not to promote one way of handling issues of sex and relationships, but rather to present students with many different perspectives on these often controversial topics.

The Magazine
In addition, SWAY has also put together a magazine and a documentary film. The magazine is a 64 page full-color publication which features articles by both students and contributing celebrity writers ranging in tone from cheeky to serious. The magazine will be distributed on Yale’s campus and globally distributed free of charge on the organization’s website www.sexweekatyale.com.

The Movie
The semi-scripted comedic documentary will trace Sex Week from inception to realization, including interviews with students, faculty, speakers and guests. The film is scheduled for release in May 2008 and a trailer is available on the Sex Week website at www.sexweekatyale.com by clicking on the television set.
