Anyone want website reviews?

One of the things discussed behind the scenes was for Xcritic to start reviewing adult websites. I've never really given it much thought but having read some really skimpy reviews of them at other places online, I wondered what people wanted in the body of the review of such reviews, if they were desired in the first place.

I've seen the trial versions of these places brag about having bazillions of clips, original content, no limit to how much you could download, etc. but since I don't want to "go in cold" figured to ask for input (if you're suggesting someone sign up to a pay website, you darned well better cover all the bases as best you can, without coming across like you're in it for the affiliate cash, lest you lose all credibility REAL quickly).

Any ideas? Any particular websites you want covered? Any interest at all in the reviewers covering such places?

I think it's a great idea... I'm still interested in seeing how netvideogirls.com is doing. I've been a huge fan of the site since I pretty much discovered porn and I wonder if they still update it.

It's certainly an interesting idea. The devil will certainly be in the details though. How do you go about reviewing a site? What judging criteria will you use? Only pics? Only video's? A mixture? If a site claims to have all original material not used elsewhere, how do you verify that? Are you limited in how much bandwidth you can use? There's probably limitless other possibilities that I haven't considered.

As I said, the devil will be in the details.

Payment options in different plans.
Allowance of content.
Satisfaction in content.
Does it give what the consumer is paying for?
What sort of formats it requires.
Searchability.
Site design.

And other things, I assume.

How about how shady are they with their billing? Do they auto-renew you after a trial at an excessively high amount? Are they easy to cancel?

Can you download videos, or will they only stream? I personally prefer to download, I hate streaming.

I can't believe you guys are discussing PAYING for porn. No way! Won't do it. How about reviewing some FREE sites? Are they full of spyware? Do they hijack your browser?

I was giving suggestions for what would be things to identify in a review. I certainly am not paying 35 bucks a month for any porn site.

The idea is still in the works but taking back seat (no pun intended) to some very big developments coming up soon. One of the reasons I posted the OP was to establish that there is a demand for it and the good news is that I have received more emails about the concept than there have been posts in the thread (so the 800 or so views the thread has had proves there are many lurkers interested in the idea too; many more expressing their thoughts via email). I've taken a bit of time looking at website reviews done elsewhere too and my main concern is that we start off on the right foot, especially since almost all the places I looked were ass kissing to the extreme; something not conducive to protecting the interests of the consumers reading our reviews. (it helps when readers keep us honest...that's why we like feedback so much)

Im new here and not browsed this site to the full but I am interested in a site that would show trailers of the films, does xcritic do this or is there anywhere that would?

If you check my reviews for Digital Playground, Elegant Angel, Jules Jordan Video, Vivid, and several other companies, there are trailers attached to the pictures if any were available. Welcome aboard!

Good idea - one thing that attracts me to these websites is finding scenes involving favourite actresses without having to bother with DVDs containing other crap I don't want like extras ;)

Silly... Oh well, just as I've suggested each reader has a different set of needs for a review, it's good to see my Aussie pal that hates extras can appreciate something about them too. :D
