Seriously this is a pretty weak assortment of smiles maybe some new ones will liven the place up a bit. Also it sucks to read old threads where smiles from dvdtalk no longer work because we don't have them here.

I use emoticons and I think they are perfectly suited for their intended purpose. Considering that I don’t intend on submitting any of my posts to any literary journals, I believe the practice is perfectly acceptable. I see an internet forum as a virtual, group conversation. Emoticons replace the conversational cues, such as body language or facial expressions, that we miss on the internet.

I guess I could have typed the first part of my post like this:

“Absolutely. I couldn’t agree more”, I typed with lighthearted sarcasm.
