This is a response to High Def - The War May Be Over But The Battle Has Just Begun

I was reading 'High Def - The War May Be Over But The Battle Has Just Begun' on Tales of Retailing Tail, and...

I whole heartedly agree with you on this. I was never keen on the idea of porn going hi-Def at all. Last wnter I was speaking to Andy Klein one of the Directors from LFP and he told me the horrors he dealt with especially with the camera. He hated it and I dont blame him. He said that no matter how much you edit and try to do touch ups no amount of work can make the razor bumps and bruisings some of the girls would get. Its bad enough that in this day and age women are more so subconscious with the way they look on film, High Def makes it worst!Maybe oters an see thr benefit of porn on High Def but I can't. Even pricewise SD is still much cheaper and I dont even see a growing market for the either. Dont get me wrong, I love my HD main stream titles and I wasnt to keen on switching over from SD to HD( suckered by Hubby and Toshiba),but I just have a hunch that it will blow over eventully with the studios going back to SD because of $$ and lower sales figures of Hi-Def...

It's too bad. I like realism. I wouldn't get turned off by a bruise, or razor bumps, or whatever.

I have mixed feelings on the notion of porn looking "too real" almost as much as those that think price is the be all, end all driving the market. More often than not, the ladies look just fine to me when I see them once a year at the AEE so the fact that high definition would scare me away strikes me as weird. The problem that most directors have, including Andy, is that they need to plan the higher resolutions better since poor camera work will not be as well hidden as it used to be. The attitude that "we'll fix it in post (production)" will be more costly in Blu-Ray; a price companies aren't going to want to pay.

While I don't think the market moves enough copies of catalog titles at current prices to justify the additional costs just yet, the companies that are making the market happen will likely reverse that trend in time. Unlike SD porn though, moving 1000 units isn't going to pay for all the costs (no mater what you may have read at cheerleader industry sources). ;)

Dear Rayvn, SalvoBrothers Ent, agrees that Hi-Def shows too much!! In fact, we prefer to film with and with older formants because they are easier to edit and much more pleasant on the viewers eyes!!
