Just left DVDTalk, thought I'd peek in here to see if anything remotely interesting has occurred (and it has not).

Got to thinking about my request made a while back to be removed from the membership rolls here, as I did not sign up for this (I was originally a DVDTalk-er, whose user ID got "imported" over here). Thought I'd check the "Members List" to see who else was forced to be an "active" member that might not appreciate it, etc. I click on the "Members List" option, and get this:

"Sorry! The administrator has disabled the list of members."

Now, why would anyone do that?

Actually there is a different less sinister reason for this it was discussed earlier I cant remember what I'll look into it.

I don't remember ever being able to see who was an "active" member here, just a tally of how many there were. I'd be curious to see it myself if by "active member" you mean people that have posted in the last XX days.

PS: It was a shame to see you get banned over at DVD Talk zombie; you always added such wonderful insights that were probably decades ahead of their time by the replies they drew. :D

Y'know, it's funny HoustonDon, that I never paid much attention to your posts until the "XCritic" thing started. G! whiz! It's nice to see that THAT will never change. :p

But that still doesn't tell me the answer to my original query; why have a selection that says "Members List" if it's inoperable? That's just plain stupid, if it's inoperable; it smacks of elitism and censorship if it has purposefully been defeated.

What, you never heard of a proxy server, LOL?!? [I'm still there.]

I went back and looked and I did see that it was turned off for privacy concerns. On some sites there is an ivisible mode that can be turned off and that would alleviate the need to turn the list off but not sure if that can be done on this version.

It's an adult site, people don't want to be listed when they are online or have themselves listed on a member list (as many people join to vote in polls but not post).
