Erotic Heritage Museum Partners with Inaugural Black Sexpo in Las Vegas Tomorrow

Las Vegas’ Premiere Museum Sends Staff to Support African-American Sexuality in Sin City During Black History Month
    !

LAS VEGAS, NV (February 9, 2018) – The Erotic Heritage Museum is pleased to announce its partnership and support of the “I Love Being Black” Festival’s inaugural Black Sexpo. Held tomorrow, Saturday, February 10, the event is part of a month-long celebration by the ILBBF’s hope to revamp traditional Black History celebrations with unique events and experiences in Sin City.

“We are thrilled to be supporting the first-ever Black Sexpo in Las Vegas!” says EHM director Dr. Victoria Hartmann. “It’s so important to celebrate the uniqueness of sexual expression, and this event brings visibility to a demographic rich in its history, yet underrepresented in modern culture as a positive, sensual force.”

The EHM will be a featured vendor at the Black Sexpo, bringing awareness and erotic expression to this often-untapped demographic. “We are delighted to partner with the EHM, because it gives our audience permission to celebrate being black and sexy, especially during Black History Month,” says poet, activist, and primary ILBBF organizer Jessica “Jess Flo” Washington.

The first-ever Black Sexpo will also feature local sexologist, author, and speaker Dr. TaMara Griffin (http://www.drtamaragriffin.com), as the event’s keynote speaker. Tickets are available at http://bit.ly/BlackSexpo.

“Our goal is not to minimize current Black History acknowledgements, but to simply bring a fresh awareness to African American businesses in Las Vegas, the multiple layers of our culture, and our many contributions beyond Martin Luther King, Jr and Rosa Parks,” says ILBBF organizer Deborah Porter. “The ILBB Festival is part of a growing Afro-futurism trend, where African Americans are manifesting and creating new perspectives.”

Events already held this week by ILBBF have included “Being Black and LGBTQ in America,” hosted by Andre C. Wade, Executive Director of The Center. The roundtable discussed the prevalence of depression amongst gay men, which is three times higher than the general adult population. Additional events throughout the 45-day celebration will include live interactive events, a focus on black businesses, online and real-life social engagement, political process education, and voter registration at every live event. The Festival will also host a premiere of Marvel’s “Black Panther” tonight, Friday, February 16, held at the black-owned Eclipse Theatre in downtown Las Vegas. The Erotic Heritage Museum houses more than 24,000 square feet of permanent and featured exhibits. The museum’s ethos is that sexual pleasure and its depiction are natural aspects of the human experience, and that such celebrations of individual human sexuality – that of pleasure – must be made available to all, regardless of gender, race, or belief.

With so much of global erotic heritage undervalued, criticized, or even lost over time, the EHM is dedicated to the preservation of as much erotic heritage as is possible to display. Scouring the world for its exhibitions, the Museum furthers its purpose by providing space for scientific and literary functions relating to sexual, emotional, mental, and physical health. As such, the EHM is as much an assemblage of some of the most important sexual artifacts, tableau and interactive exhibitions in the world as it is a one-of- a-kind lecture and classroom space.

The EHM will be featuring Black sexuality thought leaders, pleasure product manufacturers, and other prominent African American names in sexuality throughout the month via social media.
