POPPORN.COM DUPES ADULT INDUSTRY
Adult Blog Goofs Industry and Studio With Fake Fight
(Philadelphia, March 9th, 2009) Adult news and entertainment blog POPPORN.com has proven once again that humor is still alive in porn valley.
The adult site announced last week that after production of its first adult feature it had entered a legal battle with adult studio Zero Tolerance, the producer and distributor of the film. After an initial press release from POPPORN.com indicated that the film had been marred with production problems and the studio had called the film, "unreleaseable" the industry exploded with questions, gossip and uncertainty. Zero Tolerance, caught completely off guard by the initial POPPORN.com press release, followed up with one of their own stating that the film quality was not an issue at all, but rather the lack of professionalism of the POPPORN.com team on set, requests for bills to be paid and their attempts to re-negotiate for higher payment once the project had been completed.
Adult news sources and message boards picked up on the manufactured drama almost immediately throwing more fuel on the fire. Then, following an online email campaign, started by POPPORN.com via their site and their twitter account, asking fans to assault Zero Tolerance with emails demanding that Zero Tolerance give in to all of POPPORN.com's absurd demands so that the film be released the situation reached a boil.
POPPORN.com'sBrian Bangs said, "My cell phone message box was beyond full with calls. Messages from Greg trying to find out what the hell was going on, from other studios asking to buy the film if Zero Tolerance didn't want to pay what we were asking, and even from performers upset that they hadn't been asked to be in the film. It was kind of insane. I've known Greg at Zero Tolerance for several years and I know how he appreciates a good practical joke. I just don't think he saw this one coming at all. Honestly, we thought it wouldn't really have any legs, but it seems like it worked better than we thought. Everyone went for it..."
Bangs went on to say, "It's amazing what you can do with a good story and some photoshopped room service bills. When Greg gave our project the thumbs up to go into production, we immediately started thinking of a way to make the event a little more interesting. It's kind of what we do. So we figured, let's go out there, act like complete assholes with some photoshopped hotel bills and see how far we can take this. Apparently, pretty darn far."
