I don’t have Showtime and have no idea what’s happened on Vivid’s reality show “Deeper Throat” except for what I’ve read. But Gene Ross points out Hirsch and his wife Laurie allowed their young children to be on the show. They’re not somewhere in the background. They have speaking parts. Steven Hirsch allowed his young children to be on a porn reality show. I thought he was suppose to be the smart one at Vivid!!

This could also be a legal issue because the show airs sex scenes. No penetration is showed but it’s serious enough that they have to air a 2257 compliance notice at the end of each episode stating all parties are of legal age. His children aren’t around the nudity and sex scenes of course. But they are on a porn reality show that airs sex scenes.

You never see children on an actual porn set with speaking roles or even in the background. It’s just not allowed for obvious reasons! But Hirsch and his wife seemed to have forgotten about that.

I can’t believe Hirsch came up with the idea himself. I think his wife might have pushed the idea so she could get more screen time for herself by using their children to push her own career. Can you imagine if anyone or some creepy guy recognizes the kids on the street and yells out hey those are the kids from that porn reality show? Do their children even know what their father does for a living? I wouldn’t have wanted to know that my parents watched porn if I was a child. But just imagine their children going through the public ridicule if they’re recognized as the kids from that porn reality show. I assume they would also want to watch themselves on television when the episodes air. Do Hirsch and his wife show them the G-rated version??

Hirsch is used to being in the public eye. I don’t think his wife works at the company because she’s only credited as his wife on the listings. I just feel this was his wife’s idea so she could get more air time showing herself as a wife and mother and get her own future gigs.

This isn't Europe where porn is accepted and their own performers are treated like any other celebrity. Porn is still looked down in the United States and you shouldn't have any child around any production that involves porn. It's like he's waving a bigger flag to get more noticed by the FBI. It's like everything else has been done in porn and why not allow children on a reality show about the making of a porn movie. Next he'll try to get his children on set of the making of Vivid's next movie!

Steven Hirsch has been in the business for over 25 years and I don’t understand what he was thinking by allowing his children to be shown on a porn reality show. Many porn stars and many Hollywood celebrities have tried hard to shield their children from cameras and the public eye. But here he is introducing his children to the world and making his family into the porn version of the Osbournes.

I saw the entire series and had no problem with it. I don't see any legal reason why his family life cannot be displayed as it helps humanize the guy, helping show that he isn't "just a porno guy" as is typically assumed. Otherwise, I highlighted the relevant parts of the posting...

I read this at Gene Ross' site and I assume he watched it since he is now also giving recaps of every episode. He's been in the business for about 20 years and he's also repulsed by this. I don't have to watch the show to have an opinion.

Then your opinion is an ill informed opinion since you are relying on a guy with an axe to grind and refusing to see it for yourself. The kids are not involved with the adult material, were not shown any porn, were not being exploited, nor were they included in any major way in the series. It's a "reality show" just as "Family Business" showed Adam Glasser's kid for years in a much more involved way without legal issue. Mr. Hirsch has kids, seems to treat them very nicely (with money brought in by his work in the adult industry), and they were not abused.

As far as creeps recognizing his kids, I doubt anyone would be able to do so given the way kids change so quickly (and this was shot over a year ago) but I venture to say that when they grow up, they will have their choice of whatever lifestyle they choose (and will be extremely popular with classmates for years based on their dad's work).
