How to find a dominant(ish) woman who also is leftwing/activist/artsy?

O.K.

I got a "Dear John" e-mail a few days ago. And if you think a "Dear John" letter is bad enough imagine having it written by a woman with a *strong* dominate streak (to put it lightly).

However here's my catch:

Folks into the scene seem not to be that socially active in the "idelogy" concept (i.e. my veg and vegan alt lifestyles group on yahoo has a total of 14 members including myself). I'm checking out the local "munch" (like a scene mixer) however don't have high hopes since I'm also looking for _some_ of these interests:

- left leaning political (at least a Democrat)
- Veg, Vegan or at least down enough with it to eat at the resturants
- Interest in good music like The Pixies or White Stripes et al
- Interest in good films (be it Citizen Kane or Pink Flamingos)
- Good TV (be it broadly accepted like Simpsons or Seinfeld or slight odd like Curb Your Enthusiasm)
- An activist and/or general sh*t disturber

All in all - eclectic or eccentric generally

Discussed in another thread I found on another board for phone/web personals in general I have done the phone/web thing and they work well for for short term things but I've never been really into short term - I'm looking for a relationship.

All the telephone/web services seem to create a clear line between relationships and anything alternative gets lumped into the system as a subsection of "intimate encounters" - thus my bind.

The relationship I'm just getting out of was too hardcore for me (i.e. never thought I'd be locked in the trunk of a car) so I'm not expecting anything really hardcore - Just someone who either is a little dom all the time or somewhat part of the time - like being waited on hand and foot as opposed to locking me in a trunk but a certain degree of extreme is cool if that's whay she is really into.

What I need is a dating website/phone service that combines alt. lifestyles and relationships but failing that I'm open to any suggestions. Distance isn't really an issue either (The last one I just got out of involved hauling myself 3 hours to where she was).

My major concerns are actually the non scene things and that's why, even though I've always seemed to do fine with scene'ing, I'm actually getting a little scared that I won't find that mesh of the two again.

Well to answer lastblade first - yes she was bi however I was more than fine with that and seeing that I've chosen to remain a virgin until marriage (or the secular version of it) so she can decide what to do with it even if she was 100% lesbian it wouldn't matter.

Nick Danger - thanks for the excellent advice - I do plan on going and have a meeting with the "new member rep" at a resturant on Friday. I'm flexible on all those things for sure. I'm more or less thinking of them as a "baramoter" to a compatible midset for a partner. The woman I got the "Dear John" from did eat meat but she was cool with eating at veg. resturants and understood why I had to eat at certain places out of my love for animals.

As far as the limits go - yeah - I had a hard time telling "scene talk" from "scene planning" it seems. Although I, and to be honest, still am so wrapped up with her in a non-scene context though I was in way over my head I wanted to press forward b/c I discovered that being able to do those things was a hard limit for her.

I've been thinking about checking out some of the local Wiccan/Pagan clubs since it seems alot of dominant women/women open to the idea come from that faith.

I'm not sure that's part of it since the trunk thing wasn't a hard limit b/c we shared so many interests in the vanilla context. Although I admit I had trouble keeping up I was willing to try and I am fine with subbing or slaving for a woman I connect with in a vanilla context.
