Taormino Says New Film is "One of the Best I've Ever Made"

LOS ANGELES – (July 14, 2009) – "Tristan Taormino's Rough Sex" starring Sasha Grey is the launch movie in an unprecedented new series from Vivid Entertainment. It will be ship on Wednesday, July 15th and be available in stores on July 22nd.

The movie is directed by award winning author and filmmaker Tristan Taormino and the scenes are based entirely on the real fantasies of female performers. Through deeply personal interviews viewers will discover their definitions of rough sex, why they love it, how they establish trust with their partners and what they need to feel safe to play on the edge. With scenes that are part documentary and part erotic vignette, "Rough Sex" dares to challenge conventional wisdom about the fantasy lives of women.

"So much has been made about how rough gonzo, and porn in general, has gotten in the past few years. But is rough sex by its very nature harmful and degrading? Or can it be sexy, empowering and even feminist? I challenged myself to explore these issues in this new series," said Taormino.

In addition to Grey, the cast includes Adrianna Nicole, Marie Luv, Satine Phoenix, Francesca Le, Derrick Pierce, Christian, Marco Banderas, Danny Wylde and Julius Ceazher.

Through dramatic role-playing, each woman shares her most intimate desires, tests her own boundaries, and rides the seductive line between pleasure and pain. We get to watch as they take charge of bringing their scenarios to life – in some cases, for the first time ever on film. We witness female sexuality at its most extreme: raw, rough and real.

Under Taormino's guidance the movie covers a wide spectrum of what constitutes rough sex, with each female performer defining it for herself.

"When I approached Sasha Grey to do the movie, I knew she had already done lots of rough sex on camera; she's never been afraid to explore her submissive desires. But one thing she has never done on camera – until now – is a "switch" scene where she switches between the dominant and submissive roles. Sasha is a switch in real life, so this was an opportunity to explore a real part of her sexuality. The results are an explosive scene with Danny Wylde where you'll see a side of Sasha you've never witnessed before," notes Taormino.
