Cast: Ed Powers, Stacy Burke, Sunny Nova, Shayla Heart, Mirage, Tammy Lee
Length: 140 minutes
Date of Production: 1/13/2000
Extra's: There weren't many extras here, nothing new to those of you who've watched Ed's past works over the years. Essentially, there were some trailers, a photogallery, a biography for Ed Powers and some multiple angles at times.
Audio/Video Quality: The same problems that have been with Ed for a decade were still present on this DVD. The audio was set so his voice was heard much better than the people he was interviewing; a practice that even fans have thrown their hands up over. That it was presented in an MPEG monaural setting didn't help either but I've heard a few that worked so the format isn't inherently flawed (just more limited). The video was presented in the usual 1.33:1 ratio full frame color and looked a little better than stuff he shot back in 1991 (an earlier review of mine was for volume 10, shot on 11/91) but it was still weak compared to other modern amateur material. As long as the women stay on the bed, his lighting was okay most of the time but if they moved around, it rapidly deteriorated.

Body of Review: Ed Powers has long been a legend in his own mind. The premise behind his Dirty Debutantes series is that people will pay to see nasty old Ed have sex with fairly young, and inexperienced, women. Amazingly, the series has been around for about ten years but much of that is due to a number of dirty old perverts (of which I've become over the years) wanting to see an older guy like Ed get to boink some hot pussy in front of a camera. After all, if Ed can get some, maybe they can too (without having to pay for it…yeah, right). In More Dirty Debutantes 113 Ed had the same oral, fingering, straight, 69, masturbation, and lesbian action that his other titles had, including a few facials (a practice he dropped a few years back in order to drop a loaded condom onto the gals). My attitude towards the guy has changed over the years, perhaps as part of my jaded attitude towards porn, perhaps as I've become older myself, or perhaps as the result of a discussion I had with Ed at the 2004 AEE Show. In any case, while Ed isn't the super stud a few fans think he is, he's a reasonably nice guy and has done a lot more for the industry than just release a few porn series over the last decade or so. Here's a look at the release when I first saw it years ago, before my age of enlightenment, so take it with a grain of salt:
Scene One: The first scene displayed Tammy Lee with Ed. Tammy was a bit on the homely side and Ed was, to be very generous, kind of ugly. He was chubby, wore glasses, had a scruffy beard, a ponytail, and frog belly white skin. The sex with Tammy ranged from boring to just lame although fans of fresh new faces will enjoy her newness here.
Scene Two: The next scene was between Ed and Mirage. She left the bed at one point and the lighting was not set up to follow her that well. Needless to say, this scene had the worst video until she jumped back onto the bed. When her and Ed screwed, I noticed that she was either looking at the clock; probably hoping it would be over soon, or bored silly with Ed and his small penis. The funny thing about her was that she looked pretty good when her clothes were on.
Scene Three: The third scene was between Stacy and...Ed. Imagine that! Anyway, Stacy had made a lot of fetish movies and she had the longest interview on this DVD. She talked about the perils of her previous work and had a bubbly personality. I got to see how uninspiring she was sexually when she and Ed coupled. Maybe she's better when she's with someone better looking/gifted. We'll never know as long as she's around Ed.
Scene Four: The last scene was between Sunny and Shayla. This was a welcome relief after seeing so much of Ed. Of course he joined them in the end to ruin even that brief respite but they only blew him and jerked him off so it's not too bad. Their "first ever" lesbian scene looked staged and had zero heat to it. It was another "why bother" scene but you have to take chances if you want to capture the better gals in the business.
Summary: A couple of the women looked pretty good this time; Mirage and Stacy, but they showed no aptitude for sexual fun here. The others should avoid the porn industry at all costs unless they learn the production side of things. Ed was still loud and obnoxious with no sense of humor (although he thought he was funny) but I'm going to rate this one as a Rent It for his fans. He's nastier looking than his former collaborator Randy West; who had his own series like this one; Up & Cummers (also weak by the way). The production values were better than his earlier stuff but still suffered from the "we haven't a clue how to do this" syndrome. This was a prime example of why many people think the porn industry puts out garbage. Unfortunately, it's also an example of the porn industry's response: "People will buy whatever crap we put out". I long had a quest to find out who was buying Ed's titles and over the years found out that he has a pretty large following compared to some of the more hip directors (everyone from rental outlets to old perverts) but you'll either love or hate the series depending on your personal tastes in porn with little middle ground. One thing about the series I have to say in its favor is that a lot of superstars started off with Ed and if it weren't for him; they might not have been in the jizz bizz so Ed does deserve an occasional bow for that alone.
This Don Houston "retro-review" was written long ago before the so-called Professor of Porn had much experience writing reviews. Since that time, he has found New Machine to have a lot of good releases and seen more porn that almost anyone reviewing on the internet. Keep in mind that his comments accurately reflected his fresh viewpoint of the time he first saw the movie.
