Extra's: The best extra for virtually all normal people, will be the inclusion of the full length version of Debbie Does Dallas: The Next Generation. Getting a free DVD is always a good thing although this was admittedly not one of Vivid's strongest movies in recent years (they can feel free to unload other titles taking up space in their warehouse with other releases if they want to make fans happy too). Fans of Lexus might like it far more than I did but the bottom line is that a free DVD that still sells for the better part of $20 online is a great extra. The next best extra was the inclusion of five bonus sex scenes; three of which starred Sunrise Adams. While I prefer to see scenes made specifically for the movie I'm reviewing, I know that many of you haven't seen them before so they're great extras for you. There were also the usual trailers, a couple of photogalleries, a short biography of Sunrise Adams, an 8 minute long Behind the Scenes feature by Victoria Woodhill, a positions room and a double sided DVD cover.
Audio/Video Quality: Debbie Does Dallas: East Vs. West was presented in the usual 1.33:1 ratio full frame color that it was shot in by Paul Thomas. Now I know that Paul is a capable director when given unlimited time and resources (anybody see Boogie Nights?) but when he's called on to knock one out on a dime overnight, his craft suffers a lot, and quickly. The picture had tremendous amounts of grain and video noise, the colors were heavily saturated, and the lighting not nearly up to standards for Vivid. I'd almost think director David Stanley made it except there wasn't the usual creepy ending. My overall impression of the visual aspects of the movie is that they stunk (no wonder Vivid sat on this one for almost two years!). The audio was presented in the usual stereo English but the vocals were hollow, the mix between them and the music a bit overbearing, and the separation between the channels nonexistent.

Body of Review: In porn, there are few icons as well known as a story about a gal from Texas having a variety of sexual encounters known as Debbie Does Dallas. Admittedly, I've long thought of Dallas as the other city in Texas but I can be kind and tell you that the worst hotty from Dallas is usually more attractive than the best gal from most other states (Dallas residents like to think of themselves as a state). In recent years, the story of a blonde named Debbie has evolved and Vivid made quite a few movies as they revitalized the franchise. The latest such release is Debbie Does Dallas: East Vs. West, a story that had elements of the mainstream release with Kirsten Dunst, Bring It On and other sport competition shows. Granted, the cast here was generally miscast as being far younger than they should've been (much like the mainstream movie Grease) but this is porn and we're told not to expect too much. The quick version of this one is that the extras were better than the movie itself (the extra scenes were better than those in the movie and even the weak bonus movie wasn't too bad; sharing a level of poor craftsmanship with this one). If you have a thing for cheerleaders though, there was some action that was conceptually decent so here's a breakdown of a heavily flawed movie:
Scene One: Debbie & Coach Austin: Sunrise, the ultra hotty on the front DVD cover in the white outfit, was up first with studly Randy after a few false starts with other cast members. Each gave the other oral pleasure before a straight out screwing where her tight pussy was tapped pretty hard by the veteran porn stud. The scenario itself, a coach screwing one of the cheerleaders, was cool and while there wasn't a tremendous amount of passion between them, I enjoyed it nonetheless. I can see why so many people inside the industry and out fell for this gal.
Scene Two: A Sensitive Guy: Rebecca and Natasha, another couple of gals playing cheerleaders (looking somewhat too old to do so though), gave sensitive Chris a mercy fuck after warming one another up in the upstairs bedroom. Neither gal really worked for me much as they seemed inferior to Sunrise and several of the others. I guess if they were playing long time strippers, I'd believe their characterizations a lot more and the sex wasn't anything to write home about. This scene was also oral and straight although the gals gave one another some loving too.
Scene Three: Tasty Tequila: Olivia S., the bleached blonde gal with a sleazy reputation, Jesse, a very lean gal with brown hair, and Lance(?) were up next in a locker room scene. Initially Ben was with them and he snacked on some crack for a while but quickly disappeared with one of the edits as Olivia began frigging herself with a dildo and the other two began the boning action. My take on the scene is that what's a Debbie Does Dallas movie without a locker room scene (one of my favorite scenes in the original with Bambi Woods was the locker room scene so while this one was kind of lame, at least it kept with tradition. The only anal was with a toy by Olivia and the scene was kind of tepid.
Scene Four: Sexual Revenge: Olivia O. and Miss M. (I think her most popular name was Miss Arroyo; one of this year's AIDS victims), and Randy were up next. The gals had a lot of passion here and while I've seen them act a lot hotter in the past, I liked this scene a bit too. There was a lot of oral between the trio and the vaginal screwing showed they were active participants during the screwing. The worst problem the scene had was how much the edits favored the lesbian licking rather than the boning (it went back and forth but this is usually not the main selling point of a scene). Still, I liked it enough that I thought it had some replay value; something most of the scenes here lacked.
Scene Five: Teaching Girls A Lesson: Sunrise, finally in another scene, Ann, the lean brunette contract star at Metro these days, Dee, the Puerto Rican gal with a lot of performances under her belt over the years, and Olivia S., the weak link in the chain, all got together for a lesbian orgy of sorts. Personally, I like lesbian orgies as much as the next guy (and he tells me he likes them just fine) but Sunrise and Ann were the only reason I'd even consider checking this one out again as the other two seemed to be there solely for the dough. I hate gals that fake it and clockwatchers so the scene wasn't my kind of thing (there was a bunch of lesbian licking and strap on dildo use if that makes it any better for you though).
Summary: Debbie Does Dallas: East Vs. West is a movie that the technical flaws dragged down a lot but the real reason for failure was the limitations of the sex scenes. I like Sunrise Adams enough that I could overlook a few flaws but this one was a train wreck compared to most releases from Vivid these days. Think about it: Vivid sat on this one for nearly two years; would they have done that if they thought it were any good? Whoever decided to keep it from being released made a wise decision but this one could've sat in the vaults a lot longer (maybe some seasoning might've helped it like a good wine, although I doubt it). If you enjoy Vivid's movies, and there are a lot of you that do so on a regular basis (like myself for example), pass this one up as a Skip It for one of their better works. At least the mystery of why they included another movie in the package was solved by watching it.
