Condoms: None Audio/Video Quality: Princess Has Come Of Age was presented in the original 1.85:1 ratio anamorphic widescreen color as it was shot in Italy. Like most CGI (computer generated images), the picture lacked some of the subtleties of live action but this was done on a fraction of the budgets used by Pixar, Disney, and others in the mainstream field so some recognition should be given. A few friends pointed out to me that it was only slightly more advanced than shorter movies in the genre made at a local computer "institute" but this was the product of years of work so the fact that it would hold up so well compared to far more recently made shorts is a nice way of saying it was well done by their own standards. I saw no artifacts or video noise having watched it twice (technically 2.5 times) and thought that it was a nice piece of background material after that. The 2.0 stereo audio track was mainly music with a handful of vocals in English but it had some separation and a fair dynamic range, especially compared to most pornos.

Body of Review: Most adult animation these days comes from Japan in the form of Hentai releases. Essentially, most of those shows have various alien creatures with long tentacles raping young animated girls although this isn't always the case. The limitations of the animation in those shows revolves largely around the niche nature of the material and you shouldn't expect anything like the Akira Kurosawa's Samurai 7 series (the most expensive anime in history) when watching them. As the field of computer generated animation grows, shows like PornoMation using some advanced CGI graphics becomes more popular, especially as anime fans clamor for truer adult material. Well, the latest in this field is an Italian production brought to the USA by Black Widow Productions in the form of The Princess Has Come Of Age. The story is a futuristic tale where a princess must pick a mate out of a selection of five suitors after having sex with them. There really wasn't much background information or build up as to why this had to take place but I was lucky enough to talk to company president Rick Williams (former president of Private's USA office) about the show. The feature was short, lasting under an hour but he told me that it cost upwards of $1.5 million dollars to make. How much of that was subsidized by the government or other corporate entities never came up in the conversation but he was clearly impressed with the Italian graphics team that put this one together; impressed to the point where he acquired exclusive worldwide rights for distributing it. Having watched it minutes before leaving for the 2006 AEE show (where I spoke with Mr. Williams), I thought a lot of care went into it with some great shading, detail, and fluid movement often missing in more traditional forms of the animation medium. If you look at the front DVD cover, you'll see what the static images look like but they only tell part of the story, and do so in a "cartoony" manner. The actual movie made the graphics come more to life, albeit there's still a long way to go before I'd be jerking a load off to it. Here's what the DVD cover said: "In a far away galaxy, a princess has come of age and must choose a husband. Five Princes from nearby planets have gathered together at the princesses castle, but only he who will be able to satisfy all of her sexual desires will be able to marry her. Five nights of pleasure and lust are waiting for the princess...The challenge begins." There looked to be substantial human modeling used to make the princess character and the symmetry involved in the motions were as accurate as I've seen in a long time. The sexual activity involved the princess having sex with a gnome, a plant creature, a robot, an alien doppelganger, and a large saucer shaped creature that spits bats out to satisfy its mate. The sex was almost all oral, vaginal and anal with the kind of textures I'm used to from earlier Playstation 2 games and that makes sense since the show supposedly took around three years to make. I'm not exactly sure how many of you will get into this one but it was certainly a different approach to animation and porn so fans of both will want to get a copy. Summary: The Princess Has Come Of Age was actually more interesting to a guy like me than can be easily explained in a few short paragraphs. It had a cute ending and made little use of vocals but fans of porn and anime will likely want to check it out as Recommended. The quality of the picture was very high compared to most anime and while the lack of a more detailed story sometimes left me wondering whether funding ran out before the show was finished, it was indeed a breakthrough of a sort worth your attention. In general, I'd like to see the techniques updated and used for a full length, more involving story in the future but this was certainly an interesting start from a company barely arrived on the scene. Perhaps Mr. Williams will use his foreign contacts to gain other releases of this nature, in a porno made for the older fans of movies like Shrek.
