Extra's: There were actually some good extras this time, starting off with the nearly 7 minute long Masturbation Reel that had lovely Ashton Moore using some cool glass dildo action to warm up the small screen. If you like the gal (and anyone buying this title probably finds her appealing since she's plastered all over the cover, this will be a fine extra to enjoy. There was then a cool, almost ten minute Behind the Scenes feature. It started out as a series of photoshoots rapidly edited together but then progressed to showing the cast getting ready (largely in the make up chair but not exclusively). There was a photogallery, a true double sided DVD cover, and trailers to movies like Provocateur, Insexts, McKenzie Illustrated, Sophia Syndrome, McKenzie Made, Deep In Style, Krystal Method and other projects as yet unreleased.

Audio/Video Quality: Ashton Asylum was presented in a non-anamorphic, letterboxed widescreen with an aspect ratio of about 1.85:1 as shot by director Laurent Skye/Richard Hamilton for Club Jenna. I still hope future efforts apply anamorphic widescreen HD to them but I know that the industry is in transition at this writing so we'll have to see what happens (Vivid has announced releasing some truly high definition titles early next year). The colors looked accurate, the lighting was a mixture of various techniques that sometimes worked better than others, the level of grain typically minimal, and the composition of the shots about the same as Chanel No. 1 having in terms of making the performers look better than usual most of the time. There were no compression artifacts, no video noise, and while I would've liked more of a straightforward approach to the scenes, the movie wasn't bad looking at all. The only effect that I really didn't like was the great overuse of motion de-hancement; something some of his peers favor too strongly too, and the jumpy editing. The 5.1 Dolby Digital English audio track was kind of basic but the vocals instilled a sense of heat in several of the scenes and the music, offensively loud and obnoxious as ever, wasn't the worst I've heard from the company, this time provided by RCEEZ. There wasn't a lot of separation between the channels and the dynamic range lacked a bit but I didn't get the sense that the audio was blown off here at all, helping to elevate the quality of the production a bit.
Body of Review: Laurent Sky has been making a form of stylish porn for awhile now, using glaring lights and gels to color them, loud thumping soundtracks, and rapid editing to achieve a particular look, especially for his movies distributed by Club Jenna. I know I'm not generally a fan of this style but given the contract hotties the company offers up, I'd be lying if I said I'd let a mere director stand between my enjoyment of the ladies so I've learned to put up with it (though admittedly complaining like crazy as a result). His latest release is Ashton Asylum, a series of stylish vignettes that showcase the lovely and talented Ashton Moore as she and some other attractive ladies have some of the hardest sex I've seen from the company, all without condoms. The box cover said it like this: "Yet another masterpiece comes out of Skyworld's camp! If this sounds good to you, you'll be pleased to note that it was a fun ride to watch and no condoms were used so here's a brief look at the scenes by cast and action to give you a head's up:
Scene One: Ashton Moore, the hot blonde on the front DVD cover with the awesome green eyes, was up first in this, her advertised "first boy/girl lead role in 5 years". She began on the revolving platform as is a standard for the company, leading to her dropping to her knees to blow muscular Tommy Gunn wearing his leather pants and high tech sunglasses. I haven't seen a lot of Ashton in movies over the years since she spent most of her career at JKP before it collapsed, but she's hotter then many of the gals ten years younger getting into porn and her blowjob was excellent; combining a lot of aggressive energy, passion, and the pure love of cock as she skillfully worked him over. Hillary took the facial at the end of the scene and Ashton licked some of it up but it proved my belief that Ashton was back with a vengeance (and I expected no less from Hillary). Whew!
Scene Four: Sandra Romain, one of the leading anal queens of Europe (and anywhere else) was up next in a wildly lit homage to the mod parties of the mid 1960's, with Jerry and Steven French as the meat puppets. The fingering, the oral, and the yelling were a decidedly hotter way of acting then Ashton's body of work at JKP, and while the toys added some spice to the scene; it was not the laid back style of lesbian action most people associate with the term. They did taste testing and seemed to appreciate one another but the music really weakened this scene more than a little bit, making it the only scene that really lost a lot of credit because of it.
Summary: Ashton Asylum by director Laurent Sky for Club Jenna succeeded in spite of the overly droning music and visuals thanks to lovely ladies like Ashton Moore but also the levels of chemistry they had with their partners. This elevated the levels of fuck for the buck, the strokability, and even replay value to the point where I rated the movie as Recommended, though a bit more substance and less style would've likely boosted it up another notch. In any case, Ashton Asylum was a sweet little tribute to the skills of a beautiful lady and I hope she makes a lot more movies as hot as this one. In terms of heat and skill; Ashton was the queen of the day!
