Extra's: There were no extras. A second disc of bonus scenes, tease, photogalleries from past shoots, a director's discussion or even having Kira interviewed would have been really great; perhaps something to be offered in the future high definition version of the title. Given her lawsuit against her former contract company, I'm sure she'd be willing to make some pointed comments about them if nothing else.
Audio/Video Quality: Virtual Sex With Kira Kener was presented in the same 1.33:1 ratio full frame color as shot by director Joone for release by Digital Playground next month. Unlike some of the recent advances by the company to produce anamorphic widescreen titles for the genre, this was shot years ago and only now released for public consumption. The black backgrounds, the slightly grainy picture, and the minor mosquito noise in some portions of the movie make me think the company sat on the title until now (especially waiting until her contract was up so as to not benefit her former company financially). This one is strictly for fans of Kira given the relatively basic offering the DVD provided. Joone was ahead of his time even back then but he's since surpassed his older efforts like this so those looking for a better virtual sex title can pick up a newer one like Virtual Sex with Jana Cova to see how far he's come as a director. The audio was presented in 5.1 Dolby Digital but like many older titles, there was precious little, if any, separation between the tracks. The dynamic range was nothing impressive either but Kira could be clearly heard, if in a slightly hollow tone, so it wasn't the worst porno I've listened to of late either.

Body of Review: One of the most popular sub-genre's in porn these days is the point of view (POV) movie where the illusion of the gal in the sex scene having sex with the home viewer is elevated through the use of the camera work (providing the mind's eye of the action). Most companies have been offering at least a few such titles, even Digital Playground with the recent release of Jack's POV 5, where director Robby D. shows the world how a little creativity can improve an already crowded marketplace with something new. In a variation of the theme, there are two companies that rose to the top of the market in the related virtual sex genre; Digital Playground and Digital Sin (with some others trying to jump in such as Anarchy Films). The earliest releases I saw by Digital Playground were this kind of thing on CD Rom, though little has been done to truly advance the field since then. Each company offers up a different way of looking at the subject with the same basic format taking hold and lasting even today, years later, of having a single gal do a variety of acts on camera (more on new developments later). This was likened to the popular videogame experience where you were allowed to follow an adventure with some limited choices of action (often called a "rail" game since you were confined to what amounted to a set of tracks with various forks in the road). Today's review is on the latest release by director Joone (he wasn't credited but it looked like his established work in the field), with the release of Virtual Sex With Kira Kener, a title shot long ago but only now coming out on DVD.
In the case of Virtual Sex With Kira Kener, the strength is that a lot of fans found her appealing, for her exotic looks and busty chest, as well as her occasional ability to be extra dirty (at least as a contract performer) when it came to verbally coaxing the audience. I was never a big fan of hers and in the spirit of full disclosure, her refusal to let me take a decent picture of her alone at a show a few years back soured me on her personality as well (one of the highlights for fans attending the yearly convention is to get pictures to share with friends; all of you being part of my extended friendship network in matters like this). She rarely lived up to her potential on the small screen and the biggest selling point of this title is that she hasn't been in a new scene in a very long time, mainly carrying on through her numerous compilations of (often) edited scenes. Outside of her highly noticeable implant scars, she looked better here than in a great many of her previous works though so fans will find this aspect of the show appealing too.
The show started out with a short striptease lasting around 3 minutes, moving to a section of equally short stories about her past, before the controllable action started. This led to the foreplay section where a man's hairy hand would either finger or use a vibrator on Kira's pussy while she moaned and made comments. The DVD provided the option of her talking nice or naughty, doubling the amount of fun for fans, though each segment you control is very short. There was an oral section too (with both naughty and nice dynamics) but she was never touched orally, play acting the entire routine as if for a blind man. It should be noted that both of these section, foreplay and oral, were like the sex portions where you could press a button to make her orgasm, or at least provide a verbal approximation of her getting off in a porno manner, as did the main body of the movie.
This led to the sex portion of the movie where you could have her taking a real life cock inside of her in the two camera angles the movie provided. The positions were missionary, doggy, cowgirl and reverse cowgirl; Kira providing a moderately active ride in each of them. The naughty/nice verbal choice was still present and a short section of doggy anal sex was a separate choice too. This was accompanied by a titty fuck section that I kind of enjoyed, her looking at the camera with a gleam in her eye as her massive implants worked the modest meatpipe. Each position offered up an orgasm feature, with many of them providing what appeared to be a slightly faked semen shot. One thing to note was that I did not see the formerly used CGI (computer graphic) pop shot that dominated the early years of the genre, a marked improvement in my opinion.
Summary: Virtual Sex With Kira Kener by director Joone for release by Digital Playground was a decent effort if compared to similar volumes shot at the same time (way back in 2004) but somewhat weaker than expected as the field continues to offer improvements. If you're a fan of Kira, this will be a must have DVD and if you're like me, it offers up an experience better rated as a Rent It. Your mileage may vary but Virtual Sex With Kira Kener was not a bad volume in the popular series, just fraught with the limitations of when it was shot and related to Kira's appeal (there's little middle ground for this aspect of these titles, you either like a gal enough to pick it up or you don't). Give it a look if she appeals to you but don't expect a whole lot from the DVD.
