Extra's: The best extra would be the short bonus scene between Devlin Weed and Victoria Sin that lasted 6:49 minutes long. The next best extra was the 28:42 minute long extended Behind the Scenes feature by Jason Silver where the ladies provided interviews, enjoyed talking about the movie, and showed more nudity. I thought there was a fair amount of stroke value at times too, some pointed commentary offered by the players in the movie worth checking out. There were trailers, a pop shot compilation from the movie, a photogallery, spam, and a helpful Star Index that labeled the ladies as similar projects have had in the past.

Audio/Video Quality: Sodom 4 was presented in 1.78:1 ratio anamorphic widescreen color as shot by director Jim Powers for Sin City Entertainment. It was not among the best looking movies he has shot of late but still well handled on the technical level with the lighting eliminating most grain, video noise, and other minor issues. The thematic elements allowed for a broader range than the last flick of his I reviewed and the raw energy might have still been the focal point but the technical aspects were catered to more diligently as well here. I saw no compression artifacts (though the bitrate for the video was often well below 3 Mbps) and the flesh tones were accurate, making most of the scenes look relatively good by comparison to previous works of this type by Jim. The production mentioned in the credits that it used Panasonic high definition cameras and was edited using Avid Xpress Pro & Final Cut Pro for those that keep track of such things. The audio was presented in a 2.0 Dolby Digital English (at a bitrate of 192 Kbps) and sounded similar to his other recent works; never straying too far from the formula he feels comfortable with. The vocals were hollow at times, rarely sounding properly captured for the movie, but providing the kind of claustrophobic experience needed for this type of show. The use of interesting music wasn't a problem but as expected, it was dubbed in later and as a result the rhythms weren't always quite in synch with the sex; thankfully though, the music was provided by bands like JM Music, Sound Dogs, and Machine 13; each suited best for a younger audience.
Body of Review: Jim Powers is one of those directors that has won awards and personal accolades a great many times due to his work, the man now shooting for Sin City Entertainment. Fans of hardcore, edgy gonzo know what he is capable of offering them so it makes sense that wherever he goes, they will follow. Jim’s latest release is a title called Sodom 4, the latest in the series where perversion is explored in a whole new way. This time, the minimal story centered on a man searching desperately for his missing wife, finding out that she was involved in the sex industry. Swallowing his pride, he seeks her out without fully realizing what lies ahead of him is his descent into the darker realms of porn and the SOB industry reveal a lot more than he bargained for. If this sounds good to you, here’s a quick glimpse into the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were worn:
Scene One: Victoria Sin, a lean brunette with plenty of ink and fetish attire, was up first with the massive Lee Stone; dropping to her knees to slob his knob as though on a mission. The aggressive oral in the cramped setting showed her drive or what could be referred to as a “need for seed” but his penis was so long that she concentrated her efforts on the tip of it with her mouth and the rest relied on her hand to gland abilities. He started boning her pussy like he owned it and she was passive at first, on her back while he pounded away like crazy. She did much better on top of him, bouncing on cock when he played with her pucker as well as when he used his hands to stabilize the two of them on the bench they used to fuck upon. She did some PTM and the scene resumed when he was hammering at her asshole, stretching the pucker while she pushed back just as hard as he was fucking it. Scene Two: Carmella, a busty babe working at a stroke palace, was up next with moper Van Damage as the man searched for his beloved, but fallen, wife. The scene took place in a booth where the pair was separated by a plexiglas barrier; the kind you see in seedy, rundown cities like NYC. They carried on a conversation over a phone line while she teased him in a masturbation sequence, encouraging him to whip out his dick and jerk off to orgasm. This led to him busting a nut and the dialogue furthering the story even though it creeped him out.
Scene Three: Trina Michaels, the blond hotty that has been making a lot of winners of late, busty Carmella, and scummy Dirty Harry, were up next. Harry played his non-sex role well enough but to use him in scenes really weakens them. Van’s damaged cock is bad enough but to waste Trina and Carmella on a guy like that is a shame. The gals had some fine fun in the lesbian portions on the bed with Harry joining them for some cunnilingus and vaginal poking. That led to anal with taste testing but the utter lack of chemistry and heat made it a chore to watch, let alone review. To make matters worse, the editing was jumpier than usual for one of Jim’s bigger titles and that killed it for me. Trina took the facial from her ass and cumswapped it with Carmella before the plotted points took over.
Scene Four: Tory Lane, Jennifer Dark, Seth Dickens, Nick East, and Trevor Thompson, were up next with the guys wearing silly masks as the ladies coaxed them on. The pony boy masks did little to slow the ladies down as the aggressive oral and penetrative sex took place; Tory always in the lead here as she went to town on their rods. It was the best scene of the entire movie by a wide margin, not just because I thought Tory tore them up but in terms of the overall attitude displayed and amount of carnal activity (returning Jim to his roots without the thematic limits of the feature elements imposed on him). Had the rest of the movie been this good, we’d be talking major rating upgrades needed but the oral, vaginal, anal, DP and taste testing were all well done (and the fetishware was great too for that slutty appeal it gave the ladies). Tory and Jennifer cumswapped the facials and the scene finished up as heatedly as it began.
Scene Five: Shyla Stylez, Victoria Sin, Carmella, Otto Bauer, and Van Damage, were up last in another orgy scene that included all the same types of sex acts. Shyla was the blond on the front cover and I got the chance to chat with her briefly last month about her role. Considering where her career has been to date, this was another role showing she could do it all, do it well, and look great while doing it. I’m used to her in far lighter types of flicks and Tory’s comments (they were signing at the show together) also gave me the impression that their respective roles were much larger but I couldn’t fault her for doing less than expected this time. Otto did Victoria while Shyla and Carmella took on Van; each gal doing anal fairly well after the sweet hummers took place. Van got the better end of the deal by far here but slow motion or surreal effects used to display the sex left me slightly off balance; the natural abilities of the ladies enough to cover any need of the director to tell the limited story. Both segments edited together was a bad idea but they ended on a similar note, all the ladies taking facials before the story wrapped up quickly.
Summary: Sodom 4 by director Jim Powers for Sin City Entertainment had some decent sex in it but not consistently so with the thematic elements also catered too either too much or too little depending on what type of movie you want to see. That being the case, the bipolar nature of the production amounted to a title I can only suggest as a Rent It but it was clearly reaching out to be more so don’t fault it for falling short by a bit. In short, if you are old enough to remember George C. Scott in Hardcore, you’ll know where the themes came from but the sex was enough to merit some interest, making Sodom 4 something beyond just a flick for fans of Jim’s movies so give it a look.
