Extras: The first disc had a photogallery and some trailers, the box itself containing the usual slipcover and true second side (one side of the cover was nasty and the other tamed down). Interestingly enough, the second disc had the same extras but not the advertised Behind the Scenes feature or the striptease sessions.

Note: There was no Behind the Scenes footage, no strip tease, and two performers listed on the cover, Sunny Lane & Julia Ann, were not present. That said, there were only 19 performances, not the listed "20" too.
Audio/Video Quality: Flying Solo was presented in a visually appealing anamorphic widescreen color using an aspect ratio of 1.78:1 as shot by director Mick Blue for Zero Tolerance using the MPEG-2 codec employed by standard definition releases with a 480i resolution. The lighting was strong, eliminating the shadows and grain like most of Mick's works in the past, with enough variation to add some texture in a few of the nineteen scenes. The grain was minimal as was the video noise and I got the impression that Mick spent plenty of time to use the camera angles to enhance the looks of the nicely made up ladies. It was far from perfect but this did enhance the replay value for me as it showed more care than usual. The bitrate tended to hover around the mid 4.1 Mbps area most of the time I paid any attention to it (but the numbers alone do not tell the whole story in this regard, this being a common mistake my tech buddies don't always understand). The composition of the scenes enhanced the look of the ladies, each of them used to softer lighting in recent scenes but not needing it for the purposes of this release. The sole audio track was presented in 2.0 Dolby Digital English using the standard 192 Kbps rate using a 48 kHz sampling rate most titles are mastered with, the aural experience fairly limited due to the nature of the gonzo shoot (there was no secondary track in Spanish this time for those who care). There was also no separation between the channels and the dynamic range was as truncated as ever, standard gonzo audio being okay for most consumers.
Body of Review: Mick Blue has directed a number of movies for Zero Tolerance in recent times, his approach not quite as technically perfect as Mike Quasar's can be but often providing a lot of his personal touch along the way. In that sense, he seems to make a point of finding the best on all the ladies that work for him, this being the case on his recently released title, Flying Solo. The double disc DVD set provided a series of female masturbation scenes without any men to assist them in getting off, a wealth of toys deployed to satiate the varied cast by their own hands. The cover of the DVD did make some errors in casting (Julia Ann and Sunny Lane were not involved in this project, there was no BTS or Strip Tease either) but I cannot deny that the total package here was well worth checking out. Rather than outline each scene by what a gal was wearing, the incredibly similar tease and action presented, and which room of the house each did her deed in, I will let a series of pictures tell the tale of the DVD set, all 19 ladies provided a shot here.
For those that care to know, there were not a lot of firsts here nor did any of the ladies really try anything new but the appeal of them teasing, rubbing, and using a variety of vibrators/dildos on their pussies (and in many cases, their assholes too) was pretty smoking hot. Granted, each scene averaged around 12 minutes so there should be plenty of inspirational material for your personal spank banks to enjoy without the usual parolee stepping in and the lack of fast forward fodder might make some of you even happier, but each lady provided their rendition of "how I got off on my summer vacation" as they moved around the house. I admit that I was pissed off by the exclusion of two of the biggest names listed on the cover Sunny Lane and Julia Ann) as well as the missing extras but I'm not going to demand a reprinted cover or call the state attorney general on the company like one of my friends on another website threatened to do to Hustler for a similar issue either. Suffice it to say that there was a whole lot of solo loving worth checking out here and forgive me for typing this slowly but I had to use another hand to take care of business given the quality of the scenes (with few exceptions).
Summary: Flying Solo by director Mick Blue for Zero Tolerance had no genetic juice or population pudding drained on the faces of the ladies and the actual cast was diverse enough to appeal to almost everyone (more ethnic diversity might have been nice though), but the strength of the double disc set was in what it did have more than what it lacked, a set of attractive ladies diddling themselves silly with toys and fingers, some of them getting lubed up from their own fluids to the point that even the ones faking it were pretty well versed in providing some anticipated action. To that end, I rated this one a well earned Recommended, dropping the score a full category due to the missing elements that were advertised but not provided. Those of you more generous than I am might restore the rating a notch higher but as a consumer advocate, it seems reasonable to call attention to issues like this no matter how much I appreciate the company and the product itself. In short, Flying Solo was not the latest Star Wars spin off detailing the adventures of a certain quick trigger space pirate and his hairy traveling companion but a wealth of female masturbation scenes he probably would have loved on those long cold nights traveling in the Millennium Falcon, the kind of which would have been worth a trip to the spice mines to pick up.
