Muse Massager

Muse Massager

We'd been hearing some buzz (excuse the pun) over NS Novelties Muse Massager, but when we got it in for review and opened the box we were surprised by its small size. Muse Massager is small, just 2 1/2 inches tall. It also doesn't look like a virbator, it looks more like a geek toy that you'd get from ThinkGeek than from a sex toy shop. It's clear that whoever designed Muse has a sense of humor. Adorned with LED lights and a base that is clearly inspired by the old iMacs and iPods, Muse looks a little like an angry rabbit. However, when you fire Muse up you realize he isn't an angry rabbit, he's a HORNY one!!

The very thing that first surprised us about Muse is the very thing that we love the most about it, the small size. Muse can easily be thrown in a pocket and at 9.8 oz it's light and easy to carry. Muse also looks perfectly normal sitting out on a desk. No one would know that Muse is a sex toy, infact when you put it down it rocks and rolls a lot like an old weeble (wooble) toy.

Like everything from the NS Novelty line, Muse is made from extremely high quality materials including a slicon head and waterproof base. Muse runs on a rechargable battery with a wall charger.  Many modern toys are going to a hybrid USB/Power charger and it would have been nice to have the option with Muse (as it is wonderfully portable), the lack of this option though is made up by Muse's amazing battery life.

Muse is controlled by pressing his eyes which delivers 10 different vibrational settings, as the vibrations increase the eyes get progressively light up and the strongest setting his eyebrows glow. Again it's refreshing to see a toy maker have a sense of humor, as ultimately it's an essential element in sex. By using two control switches it's easy to back down or come up on the intensity and the toy can be turned off by holding one of the eyes for 2 full seconds. The switch off time press is long enough that we didn't accidently turn it off during use (which is helpful).

Muse is clearly a vibrator designed for people who enjoy pulsing vibrations. Of the 10 modes only 3 are designed for constant vibration while 7 are pulse variations. The intensity of the highest mode is extremely high and were too intense in our bed test. Also the layout of some of the variations are a little mixed up, there's a bit of a stair step progression in the vibes and then a nice soft fluttering variation that we would have liked to have seen more towards the beginning. But these are nitpicks on a toy that delievers an immense amount of power for its size.

The Muse also has an extremely powerful battery. The inital charge lasted for days of use and ran for hours before it needed a charge. The Muse also kept its intensity high even when it was close to needing a recharge.

Although Muse has a blunt end at the base, the real power comes from its two silicon 'ears'. Muse is a clitoral vibrator and how much you'll love muse will depend on how much you like direct clitoral stimulation. Muse's two ears sit on either side of the clit and deliver some very focused and very intense vibrations. The silicon on the Muse's ear is soft and pleasureable when stimulating the clit. Unfortunately Muse isnt' as versatle as some of the other vibes we've tried and does sligly poorer when inserted inside the vagina. Muse also isn't great as an anal toy and seems to be custom designed for clits (and perhaps the occasional nipple).

What Muse is designed for it does extremely well. Muse passed out bed test with flying colors both in a solo session and used during couples sex for clitoral stimulation. Muse's small size and design made it easy to use during sex. We found the transtiion between modes to be a little fumbly during sex, but it wasn't a major issue.

Muse is a well designed and extremely well made sex toy. It comes in under $100 and outshined many of its competitors in its class (including many of the Lelo products we've tried). Our only real criticism is the layout of modes and the bias towards pulsing. But these are minor issues with a sex toy that absolutely impressed. If you love clitoral stimulation or are looking for a great toy to use as a compliment to sex, Muse is your toy. Highly Recommended.
