Overview: Wasteland is a film that was written and directed by Graham Travis and follows the turbulent friendship of Lily Carter and Lily LaBeau who both take on leading roles.
The Movie: Elegant Angel’s Wasteland finds Anna (Lily Carter) and Jacky (Lily LaBeau) reuniting in Los Angeles after spending many years apart. The two became friends in high school and we’re inseparable until Jacky left for California and Anna stayed behind in Arizona to care after her sick grandmother.
The film opens with Anna riding a bus that’s bound for LA. Once she arrives there she meets Jacky and the two make plans to make the best of Anna’s short visit.
It turns out that Anna is very reserved while Jacky is more of the aggressive type who’s spontaneous and prone to having sex with strangers. Throughout the film, Anna often reflects on her life and how her friend would steal her crushes away from her. She has a flashback that shows them partying when they were younger and meeting a guy named Eric (Xander Corvus). Eric takes a liking to Anna, but when she doesn’t put out, he sneaks away with Jacky and fucks her in a cabin.
As the movie unfolds viewers witness the two girls go on one sexual episode after another. There’s a scene where Anna and Jacky are at a nightclub following dinner and they meet two random guys. Jacky sneaks off with one of them and they have sex in the bathroom. Anna is there to witness the act from a nearby stall and becomes visibly aroused at the sight of her best friend getting her rocks off in a public restroom. After they leave the club, we see the two getting a lift from a stranger in exchange for sex.
This is more or less the ebb and flow of the film. Jacky lives out her sexual fantasies and Anna gets swept up in them. From time-to-time the two have sex with each other, which makes for some quality viewing, but it always seems to end with Jacky questioning their friendship and Anna becoming upset and flashing back to an earlier time in their lives. On one such occasion Jacky snaps and angrily asks Anna why she came to visit. That’s when her friend tells her that with her parents gone, and her grandmother near death, she’s beginning to feel alone in the world. The two sob and Anna tells Jacky that despite her faults she’s her only true friend in life.
The movie works towards its eventual conclusion and culminates with Anna and Jacky visiting a sketchy sex club and meeting several colorful people; among them is Liza Del Sierra, who seduces Anna. During their stay the two leads partake in some excellent group sex and then they return to Jacky’s house.
The next day Anna gets a phone call and is told that her grandmother passed away. She collects her things from Jacky’s home and leaves on the next bus back to Tucson.
Final Summation: Wasteland is a decent flick. It’s shot well, has some memorable moments sprinkled here and there and the cinematography is nicely executed. The storyline is very basic in setup. Two friends part ways and are reintroduced years later only to find that they’ve changed, but are destined to grow closer through an assortment of shared sexual exploits. The movie isn’t too involved and what it lacks in creativity is more than made up for in the featured sex scenes that are about as good as they get. Wasteland comes recommended.
