Extras: The best extra was the usual extended celebrity sampler mentioned numerous times before (amounting to trailers from the Vivid line lasting 42:10 minutes), there also being a photogallery specific to this production, various spam and Vivid’s “special offer” for smart phone users. I greatly prefer extras related to the production in hand so your mileage may well vary substantially.
Audio/Video Quality: Mimi & Nikko: Scandal in Atlanta was shot in anamorphic widescreen for the Vivid Celebrity line that has proven so popular. The lighting was flat and the camera was set down, either on furniture or on a tripod of sorts from what I could tell, less randomly than done in the popular Raw series by Manuel Ferrara but satisfactory all the same. There was a company watermark on the lower right corner as is common for Vivid to label their works, the image not distracting me in the slightest though I admittedly see a lot of porn and I’m used to it by now. The flesh tones were accurate and the editing not too jumpy for the most part, the visual images better than a great many of the celebrity outings seen to date. The aural components of the show appeared to be taken straight from the camera itself with no boom mike or crew trying to get separate channels or greater depth of field, the vocals on the low side throughout the show though I think I heard everything of importance.
Body of Review: Vivid Celebrity has been a line of porn releases involving mainstream movie and television personalities of varying degrees of popularity over the years. While earlier releases looked like home movies not made for general public consumption, later outings were clearly professionally shot to make the stars look their best even if no one was credited with any of the technical work. As other members of the reviewing team tend to want these releases, I defer to them and watch the better versions around award voting time, occasionally the company sends a box of catch up titles they either missed sending earlier in the season or another reviewer selected to review so here I am in front of Mimi & Nikko: Scandal in Atlanta to provide an overview of what I observed.
First off, I have never watched an episode of VH-1’s Love & Hip Hop show. I’m pretty sure very few people have seen the show given the quizzical looks I received when making inquiries so the level of celebrity status of the two leads here, Mimi Faust and Nikki Smith is pretty questionable to say the least. That said, I don’t hang out with teenagers and preteens like some out there so it is quite possible your kids may have heard of the duo involved in the show. That said, whatever her celebrity status may or may not be, Mimi was a tasty piece of ass by the looks of her and they had some chemistry together. The back cover described the movie like this: “"It's the tape that turned Love and Hip Hop Atlanta upside down and inside out! We can't say how we got it, but it's Mimi and Nikko at their most intimate, and it's the scandal that rocks the next season of the hit VH1 series. First they have steamy sex in a mysterious blue room. Then they make it to a chair that's ideal for hot oral action. And you can tell from Mimi's response...she's definitely digging it. Then they hip-hop back to bed for some backdoor teasing, and it all ends in one hot shower session you'll never forget. Mimi...Nikko...you always knew they had chemistry...and now we've got the tape to prove it."”
The company press release described the movie like this: “Mimi Faust and Nikko, two of the hottest personalities on VH1’s reality series Love & Hip Hop Atlanta, are the stars of Mimi & Nikko: Scandal in Atlanta the latest celebrity sex tape from Vivid Entertainment. The movie will be available online at vivid.com as of April 21 and it will be in stores nationwide on April 29. The show’s breakaway stars are more intimate than anyone ever imagined. She’s a beautiful and clever businesswoman; he’s an artist/music mogul entrepreneur who has worked with some of the top names in music. But in this episode, they’re having steamy sex in a hotel room chair, they hip-hop straight to bed for some backdoor teasing and it all ends in one hot shower session you’ll never forget. The VH1 top-rated series follows the lives and loves of the baby mamas and girlfriends of Atlanta’s hip hop stars as they fight obstacles and competition in their fierce quest to find fame and fortune. And in Season 3, this tape turns Hot-lanta upside down and inside out with the scandal of a lifetime. “From the minute we heard about this tape, we wanted it,” said Vivid chief Steven Hirsch, adding, “The authenticity of Mimi and Nikko’s relationship is obvious. There’s no mistaking their passion; it’s real.”” Here’s a brief look at the production as a whole, no laundry list of sex acts in specific order offered, noting that no condoms were used for those still interested:
Okay, rather than provide the illusion of a celebrity sex tape like the Tila 2 title I covered the other day, Mimi and Nikko started off in bed going at it orally and vaginally with no tease to speak of. They appeared comfortable with each other and were certainly no strangers to boning given their familiarity. Mimi Faust is a lighter skinned black gal with large, relatively new (according to her) implants and Nikko Smith is a few shades darker skinned black male with decent sized equipment. Mimi was cute enough to generate some interest in the average guy on the make at a local bar and presumably Nikko was too, the caveat here being that she was a fairly passive vaginal rider who let him do most of the work.
The show was broken down into three sections, the first half hour showing the happy couple sucking and fucking in bed, the following 24 minutes showing them move around in an easy chair doing the same stuff as well as the hotel room bed, and then they finished up in the shower and bathroom for about 12 minutes. So yes, it was a fairly short sex tape and there was a moderate amount of jumpy editing taking place here though the camera stayed in a static location with no one readily panning and scanning to capture the couple at their best. The flip side is that the lighting seemed professionally set up, no lack of a C-light noticed in most of the footage like the Tila 2 tape had, and I got the impression that both of the couple were coached to do their best in terms of actively gobbling gash, slobbing knob, or positioning in doggy, missionary, and a few other well known positions.
As a result, the video short or shorts here looked pretty good and while Skin Diamond is in no danger of Mimi taking her role as the leading lady of urban porn any time soon (nor does Prince Yahshua need to concern himself with Nikko stealing roles), it was a competent set of sexual trysts allowing each to get off to a degree, neither of them as wild or crazy as some of the best celebrity outings I’ve seen but well within the parameters of strokable porn. Mimi didn’t shy away from sucking his dick straight out of her bald beaver and Nikko wasn’t afraid of kissing the monkey a time or two to excite his partner, the amount of screen time showing gushes of semen flying or sperm landing on body parts certainly light compared to modern porn as a whole but it wasn’t nearly as bad as I envisioned going into it, especially for grade Z celebrities.
Summary: Mimi & Nikko: Scandal in Atlanta by Vivid Celebrity wasn’t particularly explicit in how little I saw of Mimi’s shaven slit but they clearly did the deed a number of times and the playfulness of the shower portion was perhaps my favorite. Using a camera set down on the furniture like we’ve grown accustomed in the “Raw” series by Manuel Ferrara was probably the best way to go without coming across as overly staged so I rated this one as a Rent It, perhaps higher if you watch the show these two were from and find them more interesting than I did (they had very little character development for me to get to know them and the show was too short to give them a chance to provide details). In short, Mimi & Nikko: Scandal in Atlanta did not seem like a secret sex tape at all but it also did not give that much of the appearance that it was professionally shot either other than the usual flat lighting and a static camera with some editing applied so give it a look.
