Extras: The best extra was the 24:38 minute long Behind the Scenes feature, essentially amounting to a series of interviews during the shooting of the production. The next best extra was the 7:56 minutes of deleted footage, a photogallery, “pick your pleasure” menu, trailers, spam, and company info offered up as well.
Audio/Video Quality: The Submission of Emma Marx: Boundaries was presented in anamorphic widescreen as shot by director Jacky St. James for New Sensations. With Directors of Photography Eddie Powell and Paul Woodcrest on hand to assist the writer turned director Jacky obtain the best technical values possible, I knew this would look good, the framing of the action, the contrasts of the colors, and the flesh tones accurate thanks to the lighting and care that went into the production. Of special note was the manner in which the sexually laced montages that were so excellent in the first volume of the series were improved upon, glimpses of sensual material without the need for full fledged scenes showing a great deal of care too. Gabrielle Anex and Eddie served as the editors of the show, Eddie also providing the original score, finishing, and other key post production positions, There was a company watermark on the lower right corner of the screen during the show but little of the main action was allowed near it in most cases, the bigger budget feel of the show provided courtesy of the technical aspects Eddie has long had mastered like few of his peers in the industry. The aural components were presented in 2.0 Dolby Digital English, the vocals easily heard and the quality musical pieces blended together to add a degree more of emotive drama than is generally the case, the movie a sure bet to be widely mentioned during award time later this year just as the first volume in the series was such a hit two years ago.
Body of Review: Jacky St. James is a director at New Sensations that has helped transition the company beyond its humble roots, her work in redefining genres like the fauxcest (step relations) and BDSM acknowledged with scores of awards from all the usual players people pay attention to. With mainstream movies like the crappy “50 Shades of Grey” adaptation failing to provide an honest look at BDSM, Jacky once again set out to show the world that large budgets and all the fancy trimmings can be beat out by a small but dedicated cast & crew, making a sequel to one of the best received features in porn two years ago with the recent release of The Submission of Emma Marx: Boundaries. Rather than remain in a comfort zone of just reworking the same material in a slightly different manner, Jacky took the relationship built up by Emma (Penny Pax) and Mr. Frederick (Ritchie Calhoun) to a new level, pushing into uncharted territory as they pushed their limits beyond what was described as the three year period since the last movie came out. As such, I think a lot of fans will be appreciative just as all new fans who found the watered down “50 Shades” unsatisfying should come across this one as the goods they were sold by Hollywood, the mainstream flick not even close to delivering like Jacky did. The back cover described the movie like this: “When a new contract is drafted up defining the parameters of their BDSM relationship, Emma realizes that Mr. Frederick is anything but predictable. With new rules pushing her beyond her emotional and sexual limits, Emma finds herself caught up in a whirlwind of erotic excitement. But when someone from Mr. Frederick's past resurfaces, her world is rocked to the very core. Rattled by the realization that sometimes the road to sexual freedom comes with a price, Emma must confront her inner demons and decide whether she's capable of a relationship that challenges the boundaries she's defined for herself.” Heres a brief look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used for those still interested:
Scene One: Riley Reid, a perky young lady with a sweet ass and pretty face, was up first with husband Van Wylde as the two decided to get a little freaky by testing the BDSM waters with a blindfold. The sex was genuinely hot but remained sensual too, the two providing the backbone of three scenes while Riley and Van showed a little playful action as well. The technical aspects were superior and the extras enjoyable to watch, particularly the lengthy interviews, the amount of BDSM fuck for the buck meriting a rating of at least Highly Recommended, though some may argue for an even higher rating as other companies keep telling consumers to lower their expectations. The cast and crew were small here but focused in a way that few productions allow for, my belief that The Submission of Emma Marx: Boundaries is destined to garner a great deal of awards buzz well before fall from all the biggest players in the industry so check it out and enjoy yourselves, the movie not trying to be all things to all people but certainly succeeding in every way it set out to make people stand up and take notice.
