Audio/Video Quality: Sleeping With Danger was presented in anamorphic widescreen as credited to director Barrett Blade for Dream Zone Entertainment. The movie opened up with some good establishing shots as the cast credits rolled but the rest of the movie appeared to be shot in the same house, the lighting was flat and even, the editing decent, and the framing of the various elements capably handled. The flesh tones looked accurate too but there was very little by way of feature elements to qualify as a parody so much as a sexual homage to the original movie shot almost 25 years ago. There was no company watermark on the screen and almost no production credits so who did what is a mystery. The aural components were offered in 2.0 Dolby Digital stereo, no separation between the channels noted even when listening via headphones though the vocals were very flat & even, some modest music provided during the credits and very beginning of the movie but otherwise nothing, and no ambient sounds added for texture.
Body of Review: Barrett Blade used to be known for his mainstream music career before he hooked up with a popular contract performer and jumped into porn. Over the years he’s been in the industry, he lost the gal and moved on to others, picking up some directing skills by working with some of the best the industry has to offer. He now finds himself making the occasional movie for companies like Dream Zone Entertainment, his latest being a low budget homage to “Sleeping With The Enemy” made by mainstream actress Julia Roberts decades ago, a movie called Sleeping With Danger. The big selling point of the movie is that it stars Abella Danger in her first leading feature role though the best lines were given to co-star Steven St. Croix, a man who has won the most best actor awards of anyone I can think of, Abella getting two sex scenes to contrast to one each by Brooklyn Chase and Karmen Karma. The up side to the show was that Abella did provide evidence of her acting potential and the down side was that the story was more of an ultra low budget copy of the Hollywood hit, anyone suggesting this as one of the better parody’s of the past year automatically disqualifying themselves as having any taste whatsoever.
The back cover described the movie like this: “A young woman fakes her own death in an attempt to escape her nightmarish marriage, but discovers it is impossible to elude her controlling husband.” Then, the press release described it like this: “Sleeping with Danger is DreamZone Entertainment’s new hardcore parody arriving on DVD with an official street date of September 22. A hardcore twist on the 1991 thriller Sleeping with the Enemy with Julia Roberts, Sleeping with Danger is fraught with sexy tension and powerhouse acting performances, including that of Best New Starlet front-runner Abella Danger in her first-ever feature production. “Sleeping with Danger was one of my favorites this year,” says director Barrett Blade. “I was impressed with how good Abella Danger was not only as a performer, but also as an actress. The whole cast really delivered on this one, giving the fans a truly unique thriller of a porn parody.” “Our parody of this classic thriller has the one element the original was missing: sex scenes!” says DreamZone Entertainment VP Adam H. “Authentic, compelling, and downright arousing, Sleeping with Danger delivers four action scenes in the sheath of a story that fans will enjoy again and again.” A young woman fakes her own death in an attempt to escape her nightmarish marriage, but discovers it is impossible to elude her controlling husband. Directed by industry veteran Barrett Blade, Sleeping with Danger stars Abella Danger in her first feature role, with Karmen Karma, Brooklyn Chase, Steven St. Croix, Tyler Nixon, Tommy Gunn, and Ryan McLane.” Here’s a brief look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used for those still interested:
Scene One: Abella Danger, the curvy hotty featured on the front cover, was up first in her tight red dress as a with possessed by control freak Steven St. Croix. They exchanged gifts and he whispered what he wanted her to do as they sat kissing together on a green love seat, her clothing coming off ever so slowly as he squeezed her boob and sucked her nipples, making it clear that he owned her completely and totally. He pulled out his turgid pecker for her to suck and she slobbed his knob exactly as instructed to do, her white panties nestled deep inside her glorious ass cheeks, her tentative oral leading her to easily throat him to the bone, spitting on him as lube as she wrapped her lips around his boner. There was nut nuzzling and some hand to gland friction included as well, Abella ditching her attire to mount his throbbing erection in reverse cowgirl to actively ride him, the gal diddling herself and providing more head as they slid into other positions of his choosing. He licked her feet and she acted like his cock was the biggest thing she’d ever taken, draining his dragon of sperm that was unleashed via his hand all over her body in a sizable load.
Scene Two: Brooklyn Chase, a busty brunette hotty wearing a tight black skirt and open white blouse, were up next in what appeared to be a home office setting, the gal making out with Ryan McLane as he tore off her top to foddle her tits. As he sucked her tits, they both felt each other up but her skirt and panties dropped so he could gobble her gash and kiss her ass, her shaven slit offering scant resistance to his tongue. Brooklyn was another to exaggerate her reactions, Brooklyn reciprocating orally with ease on his modest cock to throat him before he pounded her in several quick positions to milk his balls dry of semen, his tiny load deposited on her massive mammaries as the sweaty duo finished up on the desk.
Scene Three: Abella Danger, in a wavy patterned dress in a contemporary kitchen, was up next with Tommy Gunn after they filled in a bunch of details via their discussion. They kissed and she lowered her dress for him to access her tits, the guy massaging her ass as he pulled down her g-string panties before she knelt to throat him to the bone. Her eye contact was better this time and rather than continually call him “daddy” as she was obligated to in the first scene, she applied the same level of skill with Tommy as an equal. He ate and fingered her pussy as she moaned pornishly loud, three vaginal positions of passive penetration later, he nutted on her ass cheek all too soon.
Scene Four: Karmen Karma, a busty brunette with extensive body art, was up next in bed with slacker Tyler Nixon. She wore a skimpy white tank top and red booty hsorts, a sheer black bra cupping her pierced bosoms tossed aside as Tyler covered her in kisses. He playfully went down on her as she lifted her legs in the air and he held her panties to the side, a small patch of pubic hair sported just above her cookie as she complimented his oral attentiveness. She then inhaled his small pecker orally, her saliva falling down onto her breasts and upper torso as he fucked her throat. This led to a few positions of vaginal sex, Karmen not particularly active at riding though she yelled at him for the seed so he gave her a facial of his manly juices, Karmen scooping it up to swallow.
Summary: Sleeping With Danger by director Barrett Blade for Dream Zone Entertainment had a few nods to the original movie but looked like it was shot in a single day on a minimal budget, Steven St. Croix playing the creepy spouse role as best he could given the limited story elements and Abella credible enough with what she had to work with, the story elements amounting to fast forward fodder after seeing them once while the sexual aspects were watered down couples fare best suited for newcomers that aren’t too demanding of their porn. As Abella Danger is the odds on favorite for best new starlet in coming months and Karmen Karma is a welcome sight in anything I watch (not to mention Brooklyn Chase looking fairly fuckable in her short scene), I generously rated this as a Rent It but make no mistake that it could have been much better with a little care, some decent parodies still being made but many more ending up like this, hyped beyond belief on the basis of the leads alone Sleeping With Danger not the best example of quality porn from Dream Zone in recent years by a long shot.
