Audio/Video Quality: The picture was presented in 1.78:1 non-anamorphic widescreen color, not the usual full frame the industry is known for. The picture had some pattern noise and grain, along with plenty of dark scenes that caused other lighting problems. Most of the issues can be explained away by the artistic direction, essentially meaning that Mr. Raven intended them to look that way, and it was never so bad that you couldn't enjoy the sex. The audio was presented in the 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround English that Wicked Pictures is known for with an optional 2.0 track. Needless to say, the 5.1 track was superior, even though the separation between the channels and dynamic range were not taking advantage of the DVD format all that much.

Body of Review: Michael Raven is one of those directors that likes to make movies a bit differently than his peers. He tries to make a movie that has sex in it rather than a porno with a story cobbled on top of the action, figuring that it makes for better adult entertainment to be enjoyed by a larger audience. Wicked Pictures is not exactly known for making stroke movies, leaving those to the gonzo companies that aren't trying to enrich themselves off the cable and satellite television markets. If you're a jaded porn watcher, you may not be in their target audience but even someone like me can enjoy the movies the company makes. Their latest release on DVD is Sex Trials, a drama that portrays a congressional sub-committee looking into the evils of porn back during the 1950's, as researched by a young reporter. Much like the infamous McCarthy hearings on communism, the intent was to lie, cheat and screw over the public interest by any means necessary, using strong-arm tactics to coerce false testimony. Given the social conditions in the USA at this moment, there's a lesson to be learned here, and one with a plethora of solid sex to enjoy along with it. If this sounds like something you might like, read the breakdown of the scenes by cast:

Scene One: Joelean, the lean but tight blonde so many fans clamor for, and Talon (called "Keith" in the BTS feature), had a scene in a bed. The sepia tone of the scene was distracting at first, as was the way it was interrupted by the credits, but once it started back up in full color, it looked okay (if grainy). The sex itself was limited to oral and straight, which was fine by me, and Joelean proved her oral skills were well developed. I liked her playful attitude more than his forceful style of oral/fingering too. The bed was loud as they bounced up and down, a cute fact pointed out in the BTS feature, but I didn't mind it all that much. She blew him to completion at the end in this pretty fair scene with some chemistry.

Scene Two: Dolorian, the attractive blonde known for her sexual talents too, Jessica, the lovely hotty on the front DVD cover, and porn stud Chris, had a scene on a bed. Initially, the gals had a lesbian thing going on but they toyed with one another so warmly that he couldn't resist the siren's call and jumped into the action in little time. It was very erotic at first, something Mr. Raven is very skilled at showing, but included the regular porn conventions soon enough for the rest of you, with the gals getting some oral on Chris as well as each other, using eye contact and slobber to coax his dick even harder. The screwing itself was fairly standard, even though they all worked well together and obviously enjoyed it, it wasn't quite as special as some other scenes I've seen the ladies in previously. Dolorian did most of the action here but all were looking satisfied in no time.

Scene Three: Jessica, looking even hotter in some slinky lingerie as she crawled across the floor to greet Steven on a bed, was the sexual aggressor this time. The couple made out, using the foreplay to get the audience worked up, before she gave him a good blowjob with plenty of eye contact and slobber. He soon licked her down under, even a bit of rimming, before they screwed handily in several positions. Her throaty moans nearly sent me over the top so I can only imagine how he felt during the filming of the scene. It ended with him jerking off onto her abdomen and her sucking him clean after that.

Scene Four: Jana, one of the hottest looking babes in the business, took her blonde, lean self onto Charlie, a red haired honey, in a lesbian scene on a bed. The gals looked to have a lot of fun, although I would've preferred to hear less of the music and more of their moaning. Each got plenty of licking in, but Jana seemed to do a better job this time. No toys were used and a lot of men will appreciate that fact since it seemed like a lot of fun.

Scene Five: Alana, a pleasingly attractive blonde, gave Herschel a skillful blowjob in front of Mike and George on a couch in a dark room. Using her hands, eyes, and lots of saliva, she got him off in no time, without ever having to screw the old guy. Fans of oral only action will like this one a lot, even though it was limited in many ways by the darkness of the room and lack of sexual penetration.

Bonus Scene from Blue Rain: Kaylani, looking even better in this scene, started this one by making out with Marcus in a hallway before taking the act to a couch. She slobbed his knob a bit and he gave her a little bit of oral before she sat on his penis. She started to ride it with more speed as the scene went on but she never took him in balls deep. She's a small gal so I can understand why this was the case and he finished by blowing a load on her small chest.

Summary: Sex Trials is worth a rating of at least Recommended, due to the thought, care and energy put into its making. The cast was hot, the sex warm, and chemistry evident most of the time, making the replay value very high. That there was a good story to go along with it was the icing on the cake. Check it out if you enjoy feature porn with a good story.
