Extra's: The best extra for most fans will be the three bonus scenes with Cassidey starring in them. They weren't good enough to make the final cut of the main feature but they had the requisite element, Cassidey, and were therefore included as a bonus. There was also a 12.5 minute long Behind the Scenes feature for Sordid, a feature starring Cassidey. It was okay with director Paul Thomas rambling about on the set. There was also the usual photogallery, trailers, a double-sided DVD cover and spam to flesh out the DVD.

Audio/Video Quality: The picture was presented, in almost all cases at least, in 1.33:1 ratio full frame color, as originally shot. The scenes came from the years 2000 and 2001 so you should expect an amount of grain and video noise, an amount of which was present here. Some of the darker scenes were worse than others but most of them looked similar in terms of quality. I didn't see any compression artifacts or other mastering problems as most scenes looked like they did on their original releases. The audio was presented in the usual stereo English with no subtitles or closed captioning for the hearing impaired. For the most part, deaf people aren't missing much since the vocals were almost always limited to a handful of fake moans and groans. In any case, there wasn't a lot of separation between the channels or dynamic range which should be no surprise if you've watched a Vivid compilation in the past.

Body of Review: Vivid has long been known for releasing many compilations of its scenes with its contract performers. Some of these compilations have been pretty good, particularly for fans of whatever performer a compilation focused on, like 5 Star Jenna and others have been less interesting to watch, with edited scenes and poor technical values. Of the various compilation series the company releases, the 5 Star series is perhaps the best in terms of focusing on a particular performer. The company's latest release, 5 Star Cassidey, showcases the former porn star Vivid used between the years 1999 and 2001. She's the gal on the front DVD cover with flowing black hair and a lean body with the sultry smile known to turn men on. If you like this gal and want to see her in her prime, you might find a better compilation but this one wasn't bad. Scene One: Action Sports Sex 11: D-Robby D.: 2000: Cassidey, while in a warehouse watching some bicyclists show their moves, had a scene with Pat on the edge of a ramp. Most of the sex was straight in the pussy boning (several positions) but some oral took place too. This wasn't the strongest scene of hers and I'm surprised it was included at the beginning.

Scene Two: Believe It Or Not 1: D-Paul Thomas: 2001: Cassidey, looking cute, joined Ava, an attractive blonde, and her then boyfriend John in a short bedroom scene. Some toys were used and much of the scene was oral to one another with straight boning taking place too. I think Ava and John had some real chemistry here and Cassidey appeared to be thrown in at the last minute.

Scene Three: The Black Room: D-David Stanley: 2000: Cassidey and Bobby had a scene on a bed in a dark room while another guy (Eric Masterson) watched them go at it. The sex was oral and straight only with some heated moments but nothing out of the ordinary for Vivid. It ended when he jerked off on her nice ass.

Scene Four: Color Blind 9: D-Robby D.: 2000: Cassidey, acting like a fashion model for Teanna Kai, had a scene with Tony on a bed. The sex was slower this time and much of the emphasis was on Teanna (who didn't participate) as the couple licked and fucked in the room designed to minimize the color clashes (it was all white). Further weakening the scene was the use of slow motion effects, something that looked really lame. Some fans will find redemption in the fact that she took a minimal facial but overall, it wasn't worth your time.

Scene Five: Diary Of Desire: D-Jim Enright: 2000: Cassidey, in a more romantic setup, took on Ian as the two had a scene on a couch. I'm not his biggest fan since Ian often appears lethargic in his work but he seemed to be genuinely motivated by passion for most of this scene and that helped it a lot. She gave a decent performance too as the couple orally pleased one another before screwing in several positions.

Scene Six: Dreams: D-Michael Raven: 2001: Cassidey and Erik had a scene in a smoke-filled room during a typical Raven-esque fantasy sequence. They started off in a 69 position, savoring one another orally before they started boning. The visual effects were cheap as were the audio aspects of the scene so you know it stunk. I also thought she paid far too much attention to the camera and that sure didn't help make me interested.

Scene Seven: Girl World: D-Robby D.: 2001: Cassidey and Dominica had a lesbian scene in lingerie with almost as many special effects as the last scene had (bad idea Robbie!). It seemed passionless and cold to me and all the lesbo-licking in the world wouldn't convince me this was worth my time or money.

Scene Eight: Girl World 2: D-Robby D.: 2001: Cassidey and Nikol had the next lesbian lick-fest of the compilation. There were still too many special effects but both gals looked very hot and like they had some fun this time. The contrast between Cassidey's dark hair and Nikol's blond locks added a nice touch too.

Scene Nine: House Sitter: D-Tommy Ganz: 2000: Cassidey had another lesbian scene, this time with Chandler (at least that's who I think it was: the credits listed one of Cassidey's aliases as the partner, a bit far fetched unless Vivid bought a Dolorian with a time flux converter). I liked the scene and think they had some fun together although Chandler was the most vocal of the two. It included lots of oral and rubbing with some strap on dildo action too.

Scene Ten: The Jungle: D-Cody: 2000: Cassidey, Dayton, and Venus had a lesbian scene in a small lake (or was it a pond), licking one another and enjoying the lush scenery. The scene was actually presented in widescreen but appeared cropped to do so. The hardcore action took place on the riverbanks though and each gal contributed some measure of heat as they licked, rubbed and fingered one another to orgasm.

Summary: I think this one was worth a rating of Rent It unless you're a major fan of Cassidey's body of work. While she was attractive and could, on rare occasion, display some heat, this was the exception to the rule. The DVD contained 13 scenes (three were bonus scenes) with her and that was a positive aspect of the release but only a couple had replay value for me.
