Extra's: Now that the Phatty Girls series has moved over to Evil Angel, I'm expecting some decent extras that were not present in previous editions of the show. For the most part, volume 4 didn't let me down in this regard as it started with a 38 minute long Behind the Scenes feature. The BTS had some sex footage, some whining by the gals, and even a short segment where Justin was kicked out of a store while shooting some background footage but I also liked how it took some time to let the gals get to let fans know more about them. A unique extra was an audio commentary on a couple of the scenes by Justin and some of the cast (it varied by scene). Such commentaries are usually a good way to get inside the head of a director but also to see a more rounded view of the industry as well but this one seemed limited in many ways. There was also a cast list, a filmography (only one gal has been in an Evil Angel release before), a limited fetish menu, and a photogallery.

Audio/Video Quality: The picture was presented in the usual 1.33:1 ratio full frame color, as expected. While the lighting varied too much for a quality production and there were some compression artifacts on occasion, the overall picture was about average. The camera angles were rarely complimentary, the composition basic to the max, and if not for the Evil Angel box and extras, I'd have thought the DVD was shot at a much lower end company. The audio was presented in stereo English but there wasn't any noticeable separation between the channels and the vocals varied a whole lot between scenes (partially explained in the commentary and BTS features). The music was minimal and the vocals usually limited to urban ghetto-speak or typical porn moaning so I wasn't overly enthused by the audio track.

Body of Review: I've been told by some of the best known people in porn that the last great frontier to break through will be in the ethnic genre; basically, making ethnic porn more marketable to the masses in hopes of gaining a larger audience. Personally, I think getting more cross-over action to mainstream (larger women audiences being my top choice) is far more likely to yield profits but it isn't my money on the line so I'm not going to second guess these leaders on their decisions. Most such porn that sells well these days has to do with black men screwing white women (a common fantasy among many of our society I'm told), with such releases as Once You Go Black…, The Black Bastard, Black Dicks In White Chicks, and Black In The Saddle coming to mind as examples of fan favorites. One portion of the ethnic market that has long been underserved is the black on black porn but the lack of female talent has hindered that more than any racist intentions (let's face it, if it'll make money, you aren't going to find many producers in porn so stupid as to ignore such a market based on personal tastes). To be completely up front, most black female talent look like rejects from a third tier strip club in the seedier side of town (there are a number of exceptions though). An attractive woman of any color can make more money elsewhere so porn suffers the loss from black gals more than any other aspect of the genre. To address such a market, companies like Exquisite Multimedia, Video Team, and now Evil Angel have been dabbling for years; looking for the right touch to set off the genre. The latest such release is Phatty Girls 4 by Justin Slayer for Evil Angel. Moving over from his former company, perhaps he figured it was time to grab for the brass ring. In any case, the action varied just as much as it did in the first three volumes for Exquisite so here's a quick breakdown of the action if you're still interested:

Scene One: Angel, the "Freek-A-Leek!!" bending over on the lower middle of the front DVD cover, started off the movie with some nice tease footage of her showing off her curvy body in a pink top and fish net stockings. As with all the scenes, Justin was the main hitter and he proved he wanted to tap this little honey in any way possible. I liked her DSLs (dick sucking lips) at least as much as her attractive face, but admit that her skills beyond the tease footage were minimal. The scene had oral and straight sex but only the tease footage was worth watching to me.

Scene Two: Brittany, the light skinned gal on the upper middle of the front DVD cover, started off her scene at the mall (where Justin was kicked out as shown in the BTS feature) where she walked around. The scene was billed as her first and only scene which was a good thing since she made such a scene at the end when she had to taste Justin's semen and she ran out of the room (also seen on the BTS feature). Sexually, she had all the mechanics down but she didn't display any real talent and there was no chemistry between the couple, making it even worse to watch than the first scene of the DVD. By this point, I was concerned that the movie was going to suck (in a bad way), a surprise for anything released by Evil Angel.

Scene Three: Adora, the larger gal on the left side of the front DVD cover wearing all white, had the next scene with Justin. Braced for the worst, I found that she actually had a combination of chemistry and heat lacking in the other two gals. While her face wasn't really attractive to me and her ass too big (big is okay if it's toned but otherwise…), I'd be lying if I didn't say I had a case of jungle fever after watching her pounce on him. The oral wasn't all that great but when she rode him; she rode him hard and fast in both her pussy and ass. Admittedly, the roast beef look of her crotch wasn't a major turn on but I could tell when she screwed, she knew how to give a guy a great time.

Scene Four: Janet, the gal on the left side of the front DVD cover wearing a chain-mail stripper outfit, was probably the best known of the gals in the movie since she's been around the block about a million times. She's been in porn forever and was easily the oldest of the cast here. Age wasn't a big factor with regard to talent though since she definitely had the right moves to make Justin reel with pleasure but I'm of the opinion that it felt better than it looked as he plowed her pussy and ass in a bunch of positions. That said, all the heat in the world wasn't going to give this one more than curious interest to me since I have never found her attractive in the slightest. If you're a fan of hers though, the scene will probably rock your world for many replays as her ass and pussy shook from his gyrations into them.

Scene Five: Phat Ass Orgy: This scene was an orgy between Carmen (upper right side of the front DVD cover with a striped tube top pulled down), Lexi (upper left hand corner bending over with a sweet ass), Cherokee (not the recent white gal that has made a ton of movies in the last year but the harsh looking black gal on the right side of the front DVD cover), Justin, Boz, Shocka and HJ. Of the gals, I think Carmen was the most sexually talented and desirable but Lexi was really pretty so I guess it depends on what you're looking for in a pornstress. The action included lots of oral and straight with some solid tease footage to top it off with. For the most part, the scene wasn't bad with a couple of moments where I thought the cast were really into it but then the realities of the porn world kicked in and they fell back into their roles (play for pay). Fans of black orgies will find this was one of the best such orgies shot in the last year but that really doesn't say a whole lot. Like most of the other scenes, if you are a fan of the cast, you'll have fun but otherwise the sex wasn't much more than generic screwing (with the black angle as the sole twist).

Summary: Most of the scenes left me somewhat cold in terms of the chemistry and heat. Part of that was due to technical matters but most of it was a facet of the cast itself and Justin's directing ability. While he shows some promise in terms of raw energy, I think he'd benefit from a few lessons at the hands of master director John Stagliano, Jules Jordan, or any of a number of other peers in the field of gonzo porn. I'm going to rate the DVD as a Rent It but that's being really generous and based on a couple of scenes. Casting better women, showing more technical skill at directing, and maybe even editing the scenes better may help future productions but for the most part, you'll have to be a slavering fan boy to enjoy the majority of this movie.
