Extra's: The best extra for me was the 10.5-minute long Behind the Scenes feature that showed much of the cast and crew at work. There was also the usual selection of trailers, cast biographies, production notes, two photogalleries, and a double-sided DVD cover as well as all the usual language and subtitle choices.

Audio/Video Quality: The picture was presented in anamorphic widescreen with an aspect ratio of 1.85:1, not something you see in porn very often. Handled properly, anamorphic widescreen can enhance the picture quality quite a bit and that was certainly the case here. There was a touch of grain and occasional haloing but it looked very sharp most of the time with perfect skin tones. The audio was presented in the usual 2.0 Dolby Digital English with all the usual foreign language options for you to enjoy. With a picture of such high quality, can the audio be anything less than great? Sadly, the answer is that yes, it can be less than great. The audio was poorly dubbed and the overbearing soundtrack was a pain, a condition I've noticed in many of the fetish releases by Private lately (harkening back to their older releases in what appears to be a couple steps backwards).

Body of Review: One of the things I've always found interesting about porn (in general at least) is how certain series evolve over time to react to changing times. Some series get more explicit with ever-harder sex while others take a different path, one designed to capture a target audience in hopes of becoming profitable. Such is the case with the Pirate Fetish line by Private Pictures. While not the most extreme sex you'll find at the company, the series takes advantage of the desire by many viewers to see hot looking women in fetish outfits having all the usual kinds of sex the company is known for with a minimal story line. Originally directed by Frank Thring, the series has employed several directors since its inception, all with their own spice or flavor for showing what the fan wants to see (with varying results of course). Women wearing fishnet stockings, leather corsets, and the shiny PVC outfits that fetish enthusiasts seem to appreciate more than all of us have long been staples in the series, giving a fan a place to go where he could rely on at least the basics being covered, if not all their kinks. The latest director of the series is Susi Medusa Gottardi and while she's still working on getting her style in line with what fans want to see, I can't deny her approach might well be on the right track. Her latest release in the series is House of the She-Wolves: Pirate Fetish Machine 16, a story about a haunted house that corrupts those that stay in it over time. Like many similar stories over the years (in both mainstream media as well as porn), the basic plot was minimal and only served as a framework for the sex but it had some merit for fetish aficionados. Here's a quick look at the movie, noting that the sex was very similar to past volumes and usually included a lot of anal:

Scene One: Elen, an attractive blonde with a nice set of curves, started off the sex wearing tight leather pants, matching thigh high boots, a corset, and a collar as she serviced Franco, George, and Gabriel in the courtyard to a large villa by the outdoor pool. Her oral skills were decent with a lot of energy but the mechanical nature of her act was a bit weaker than I liked. Even when she tried to take all of them into her mouth at once, it seemed like she was being directed to do so, not out of her own desire, limiting the heat for me. The guys boned her pussy and ass, with a lot of DP action to boot, but she seemed less an active participant and more a cock socket, once again limiting the scene. She took the facials at the end but I wanted to see her in a better scene after watching this one.

Scene Two: Nikki, an all natural blonde with a pleasing face and some leather gear of her own, started off her own scene with Gabriel tapping her ass. I would've preferred there be some build up to the action and even some tease to showcase her lovely body but that wasn't meant to be. He spanked her very unconvincingly as he plugged away and she stated (or at least whoever dubbed her repetitive vocals) "Fuck me", but it certainly wasn't her best scene. He eventually screwed her pussy too but the scene lacked in many ways, making it a filler for me rather than the must watch it could've been.

Scene Three: Jane, an attractive blonde gal with a nicely shaped body, George, and Franco had a scene where she played a maid and they cleaned her pipes (as well as her cleaning theirs of course). The sex was frantic and energetic, making for some hot times and if you like anal antics, you'll really like her here. I liked her leather maid outfit and no one can deny she looked very hot as they warmed her up, only to tear her up later, making this something of a turning point for the sex in the movie. Before this scene, I feared the rest of the movie would be really lame but it gave me hope for heat, if you know what I mean.

Scene Four: Liliane and Sarah, a couple of generic cuties with lean bodies and red dresses, were in the next good scene that had them eating each other out and doing some foot fetish stuff for fans at night by the courtyard pool. The vocals used too much echo and the droning music was lame but I liked watching them in this lesbian romp, as I'm sure a lot of you will too. There were no toys used, only tongues, fingers and mouths, but it was a lot of fun to watch (I just wish it hadn't been edited into the previous scene).

Scene Five: Liliane, Sarah, and Neeo were up next as they playfully engaged one another in a large, well lit, room. He wore a red mask and a black apron, with some girlish makeup on his ugly face but the gals didn't seem to mind as they sucked and jerked him off. Their outfits were less fetish oriented this time and the action somewhat tamer by the addition of the wimpy dude. They did do some foot sucking but it was probably less than fans of that kind of thing will want and more than the rest of you care to see so keep it in mind when watching the show. There was a lot of anal this time, although I would've thought he'd be the one taking it in the ass given his look. It wasn't a bad scene, just a step or two backward from the last couple in the movie I had watched.

Scene Six: Yvonne, a gal with a classic Goth look wearing a red and black corset, had the final scene with Gabriel. The dubbing once again weakened the sex but she did look visually appealing to me as they screwed at night by candlelight. Her lean legs, curvy body and attractive facial features combined to give her enough visual appeal but the mechanical nature of the sex acts were simply not up to par. Maybe the biggest reason was the lame dub or maybe there was just no chemistry between the couple but other than fulfilling a laundry list of sex acts as though it were a grocery list, I couldn't get into it (even though I wanted to do so).

Summary: I couldn't get excited with more than a couple scenes from the movie and the extras were kind of standardized rather than showcase Private's ability to impress so even with a cast of very attractive women that did all the usual sex acts, I had to give this one a Rent It and that was being somewhat generous as a fan of the fetish outfits they sometimes employed here. If you're a big fan of the performers, you might want to get this one to fill out your collection but Private has done a lot better in their sorted past and I hope they can get better in their near future. The visuals have definitely improved over the years but they've long had issues with dubbing (they are situated outside of the USA after all) and the mechanical nature of many of their directed/scripted sex scenes.
