Extra's: The sole extra was included at the end of the movie. It was about 27 minutes of interview footage between Shane and the cast outside in the lovely sun; capped off with some tease footage of the gals outside. I would've preferred to see the footage as a separate extra that was more easily accessible but it did add some value for me and fans of the cast will enjoy seeing what they're favorite stars are up to these days. It was cute to see Kimberly Kane rail against newly reelected President Bush (with Shane joining her); proving that politics should be left out of porn lest you label yourself a loser.

Audio/Video Quality: The picture was presented in the usual 1.33:1 ratio full frame color, as originally shot by Shane and her crew. Okay, the lighting was interesting since scenes shot outdoors tend to look much better than those indoors. There were times when the lighting was too harsh but the action covered for them more often than not and the lack of flat lighting may make the movie appear more interesting for many of you. The gonzo style shots of the camera crew tended to be fresher than average with few set camera angles and the same kind of style that Shane employed on her Shane's World series before she left porn. There were some compression artifacts, pixelation, and video noise at times but neither got in the way of the fun. The audio was presented in the usual monaural English and aside from some issues with the volume levels (the music was too loud and the vocals too soft), it was decent too.

Body of Review: Shane was one of those gals in porn that caused people to stand up and take a look, regardless of whether they were into porn a lot or not. Her work with Seymore Butts broke a lot of new ground in the gonzo field where she established her credentials as a fun gal that enjoyed sex in many different fashions. After splitting with the well known director, Shane went on to direct a few series of movies distributed by New Sensations/Digital Sin, eventually leaving the world of porn in 1998 (where an unknown woman took over her series). Now, in 2004, Shane is back with a new series of her own, Shane TV Vol. 1: Summer Luvin', where she doesn't actually participate much but her trademarked style stands out like a sore thumb. The first volume of the series focused solely on lesbian antics with the promise of men for future volumes.

Okay, we've all seen a number of lesbian scenes in the past so mindlessly listing the specific sex acts isn't likely to reveal anything new to fans. Even going into the movie, I knew I could bet that the gals would be licking and sucking one another off with the possibility of large toys being used by one and all. I didn't expect Shane to participate and I wasn't wrong although she did flash the camera more than once. Other than a reality scene where Holly played "remote girl" and blew a stranger along the highway after stealing his towel (he wasn't named so I call him "Surfer Dude"); the best scene was probably the orgy or Katja Kassin's scene with Ramona. There were also scenes underwater at the orgy and the overall fun level was off the charts as the cast got one another off several times in a few cases.

If you're looking for technical excellence in the picture and sound, look elsewhere but the playful nature of the sex contributed to the high energy and chemistry that the cast had with one another and I welcome Shane back to her directing duties if this is what she's going to bring with her. The amount of fuck for the buck was very high and fans of lesbian action are going to want to check out Shane TV Vol. 1: Summer Luvin' for all it has to offer them, keeping in mind that Shane had long provided some of the best reality gonzo on the porn market.

Summary: Shane TV Vol. 1: Summer Luvin' is one of those movies where the cast looked great, the action was not only heated but fun, and the level of fuck for the buck was exceptionally high. If Shane can keep this level of fun up in future volumes, I predict her taking the porn world by storm yet again. It's been a long time since this lovely hotty showed us what she had to offer and I'm willing to bet that a 6 year hiatus (she got married and left porn) gave her a lot of time to come up with even more ways to get fans off. For all these reasons and more, I'm rating Shane TV Vol. 1: Summer Luvin' as Highly Recommended but I'm willing to bet that a number of you will consider it a must have for your collections.
