Audio/Video Quality: The picture was presented in the usual 1.33:1 ratio full frame color as originally shot. Some of the scenes, particularly the nightclub lesbian act, were a bit grainy and the video noise was more than average but other scenes looked very crisp and clear, something I wouldn't have guessed looking at the box cover. There were a few moments where the compression artifacts reared their ugly heads or some minor pixelation occurred but they were few and far between (thankfully). The fleshtones were generally accurate and the overall quality of the picture was decent. The audio was presented in stereo English but there wasn't a lot of money put into this aspect of the movie from the sound of it. The music droned and the vocals were lower than average but this is almost a given in porn so I'm not going to slam this area of the movie.

Body of Review: Metro has long had a tenuous relationship with contract performer Gauge. Gauge is known throughout the industry as something of a hot headed wildcat so this is no surprise to those in the know. The common belief is that her emotional baggage allows for her to make some very energetic scenes with tons of passion so her flaws are usually overlooked when she's actively contributing to the company's bottom line. That said, this review is about a movie made as a showcase for the gal, Chapter X, and approached Gauge from the angle of a writer wanting the inside dope on the porn world through the eyes of a young starlet on the rise. While the subject has been done in many ways in the past, I have to admit that if properly executed, such a release would be well worth my hard earned dollars. Given that famed director Red Ezra is at the helm, my hopes were substantially elevated since some of my past experiences with Cal Vista (a company distributed by Metro Interactive) have been less than thrilling, if you catch my drift. Scene One: Katja, the hottest property on the market at this writing due to her neon red hair, sultry appeal and luscious curves, started the movie with a bit of sexy tease footage on some stairs indoors while wearing a hot little lingerie outfit. The lucky guy to get to enjoy her charms was studly Joey, a man with a plan for fun this time. She blew him slowly after he rubbed her the right way but picked up speed while keeping eye contact in a manner that enhanced her lovely look. They then screwed vaginally and anally on the wooden floor while she jerked herself off and it ended with the usual facial. This was a pleasant scene but using such terms in regards top a Katja Kassin scene seems somehow wrong and the sex was among her tamest ever (although she still looked good).

Scene Two: Gauge, Anna, and Charlie Laine, had the next scene after Ron Jeremy gave an interview to Linda. The lesbian tryst took place at a strip club after director Red walked off. It only used tongues and fingers but managed to be pretty good, even if too short for my usual tastes. The gals looked lovely and fans of lean cuties will want to see them more than this scene allowed for.

Scene Three: Devon, one of the curvier gals in porn with a few extra years as well, took care of the massive Lee, in a house while Gauge masturbated. Both of the leads did some solid oral on one another and had they done a lot more, the scene would've been great instead of just good. The actual boning in her tight pussy wasn't bad either but I think both of them looked best during the oral. It ended with a facial to her mouth and the couple looked good together.

Scene Four: Charlie, a curvy brunette that I've liked for years, and her boyfriend Jonathan were next up in a scene from a porno set. While I'm more familiar with her lesbian work, she could always suck a mean cock and this was no different as she gobbled his knob with enthusiasm and energy. He didn't return the favor, preferring to screw her pussy and ass instead, but I thought she did a good job of maintaining the rhythm he set. It ended with some ATM and a face full of semen and I liked the action more than I should have.

Scene Six: Gauge, looking kind of worn, had a solo scene in a chair that lasted only a few minutes. It was very basic and far tamer than I've come to expect but Gauge's fans won't care as long as they get to see more of her.

Scene Six: Dana, a very lean hotty with an all natural body was up next in a scene with porn stud Alex in a bedroom. He was a bit rough and liked to spank her as she played with herself but it seemed very much as though she was into the action so it didn't bother me much. He then went down on her as Gauge filmed it all and Dana returned the favor with a bit more energy than most of the other scenes here had. The point of view angle worked in their favor as they continued the scene, screwing vaginally and anally as Dana has long enjoyed. The pop shot was weak but I still liked the scene.

Scene Seven: Gauge, on a couch this time, had a scene with studly Chris. They each did oral on one another and she seemed more into it here than in the previous scenes; keeping her eyes on him the entire time. They then did the usual straight sex before he popped off on her face and in her mouth but it was still far tamer than I've seen her do in the past. I guess it looked to me like she was upset or holding back a lot more than normal; reducing the heat.

Summary: Chapter X had some basic flaws that kept it from truly shining and most of them related to the lack of a substantial amount of fuck for the buck. The length of the movie was under 90 minutes and there were no real extras to speak of. With shorter than average scene times and a cast of ultra hot gals reined in as if to make Gauge look somehow more sexually significant, the best I can rate Chapter X is Rent It; and that is for her fans, not the rest of the world. I've seen Gauge tear up the screen with heated performances in the past and I've seen many of the rest of the cast do likewise but I suppose even one of the most talented directors in porn, Red Ezra, has to deal with the casting limitations from time to time. If you're new to porn and like Gauge's look, you might enjoy this far more than the rest of us who've seen what she can do when she wants to turn up the heat but I got the distinct feeling that she held back on purpose and that limited my enjoyment of the movie.
