Extra's: Most consumers will enjoy the bonus scene between Devinn Lane, Taylor St. Claire, and Nicole Sheridan from the movie Beautiful/Nasty Too as the best extra. More sexual activity is the highlight of any porno and while I prefer extras that are unique to the DVD I'm reviewing, the appeal of this scene is undeniable on a couple of levels. Each gal was looking good (in a way that only Wicked Pictures could make them) and each seemed to enjoy a bit of lesbian action. Personally though, I was a bigger fan of the 26 minute long All Access: Behind the Scenes featurette for Tuff Chick by Mark Stone since it had a lot of material with the actual cast of the movie (and crew for that matter). Wicked Pictures is rarely outdone in their BTS features and they are the model for smaller companies to emulate (having been so for years). The extras also included the usual trailers, star photo galleries, photogallery for the movie, promotional reels, DVD-Rom features like awards and nominations, a Casino game, desktop backgrounds, company profile, and a Wicked Pictures catalog to go with the double sided DVD cover. I'd have preferred an audio commentary but Wicked hasn't been big on them this year for some reason so I guess I'll just have to wait for one of their bigger budget releases to hear the next one.

Audio/Video Quality: Tuff Chick was presented in the usual 1.33:1 ratio full frame color that it was shot in by director Michael Zen. The visuals looked very crisp and clear with solid colors and decent composition although a bit of grain was detected. The DVD mastering also looked well done with no compression artifacts and a host of decent extras to speak of. The audio was presented in 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround English but made scant use of the abilities the process is capable of (most of the time, it sounded just fine but there was no significant separation between the channels and the dynamic range was almost as limited as the offerings of other companies. The mix between the vocals and music was well done but again, the audio was mostly an afterthought here.

Body of Review: One of the things about porn I've always appreciated is the sheer diversity the genre has to offer. From the flavor of the week types (it used to be flavor of the month) to the established performers and from the kinky fetish movies to the entertaining features porn companies have long been able to figure out that there's a market for everything. I'm glad this is the case or otherwise, I doubt I'd be able to see much of attractive older gals like the beautiful Devinn Lane. Devinn started in porn later in life than most of her contemporaries and with hits like Women in Uniform,
Sex on Film, About A Woman, and The Devinn Lane Show, is it any wonder that Wicked keeps her on contract status? Devinn's latest movie, Tuff Chick, is directed by the renowned Michael Zen; long established as one of the more stylish director's that works for Wicked these days. The movie is about a gal, played by Devinn of course, who falls into the wrong crowd, ends up in prison, and deals with the consequences of her bad decisions over and over (ultimately finding the mob a bit less friendly than some cable television shows would lead you to believe). If you're a fan of adult entertainment, you could do worse for a night's pleasure and here's a breakdown of the scenes by cast and action:

Scene One: Devinn, Monique, and Gia were up first in a short flashback sequence where the trio were screwing on stage as strippers. It was fairly limited but I'd be lying if I said they didn't appeal to me here. Every guy that walks into every strip club has the same fantasy about the gals doing one another on stage (second only to the gals doing them for free in the back room). It had a bit of licking and verbal play but that's about all. They knew how to tease though and I have to give them credit for that.

Scene Two: Devinn, looking five or so years younger than usual, showed that a gal her age can rock, even with an aging pretty boy like Nick, in bed. They did the usual oral and vaginal sex but at least she looked like she had some fun with it. Real or imagined, her performance was well done and while Nick's aggressive gangster character was a bit overdone or not, I thought they looked good together during the scene. Devinn is one of the few gals I know that can put on a couple of extra pounds and look better as she's taking a guy inside her (most of her career has been in lesbian scenes). Yum!

Scene Three: Holly, looking better than ever, was up next in a lesbian scene with Devinn on a bed. This scene contrasted with the last one in how the gals took a lot of time slowly pacing themselves as they licked and sucked one another off. There was no time during the scene that I thought they were there solely for a paycheck (intellectually though, that's why all performers are there). The photography enhanced their looks but Holly really came off looking great; proving my contention that some women age better than others.

Scene Four: Holly, as happy with a lesbian scene as anyone else I know, then decided to get a little meat to go with her salad. The lucky stiff was Barrett and the two went at it in a paced manner. Rather than his usual slam-bam-thank you ma'am way, he took his time with her and they did oral with vaginal only. They looked good together and her vocals helped coax out his load onto her stomach, but it was somewhat restrained for both of them. I liked it but I was left wanting more.

Scene Five: Gia and Monique, each capable performers if not the best the jizz bizz has to offer, were up next as they prepared for a porn scene. This was more of a full blown lesbian porn scene than the first one they were in but it fell flat as the gals came off as mechanically going through the paces. Even the best performers have off days so you can't expect a couple of second stringers to be "on" all the time. It was definitely the weakest scene of the show by far.

Scene Six: Devinn, still looking good, was in the final scene in an open living room with Brad. This was the best scene in many ways even though the kinds of sex were limited to the usual oral and straight. I could tell that Brad liked doing her and she seemed more receptive to doing him than Nick. They took some time and the titty fuck alone was worth watching this one for. I hope to see more of these two in the future since I thought they had some chemistry to go along with their heated act. Whew!

Summary: Tuff Chick was one of those features that pulled away from being a porno and headed towards light night cable movie territory (albeit far more than is usually shown though). I'm a fan of Devinn so I have to balance out my desire to see her versus what most consumers would like; making me feel obligated to rate it as a Rent It. It was in many ways a weaker than average movie but it was also the type you might share with a loved one that isn't as well versed in watching porn too. It wasn't the best cross over styled movie of the year, mainly due to the inconsistencies of the story (hint: the mob isn't stupid, prison guards won't take shit, and getting into porn while in hiding isn't a smooth move for starters), but at least Wicked Pictures is trying to expand the market a bit.
