Extra's: The best extra was easily the bonus scene as described below. It was fun, heated, and well worth checking out although I'd have preferred if the bonus scene was created just for this release. Otherwise, the bonuses were light with a slide show and some trailers as well as a couple of commercials for the Hustler Empire.

Audio/Video Quality: Phoenix Rising: The Very Best of Lauren Phoenix was presented in the usual 1.33:1 ratio full frame color as the scenes were originally shot by various directors. For the most part, the colors were accurate, the focus crystal clear, and the lighting well done with solid composition. Unlike compilations from some other companies, this series tends to be drawn from pretty good sources (especially this volume) so I had little to complain about. The audio was presented in stereo English although the separation between the channels was limited (if at all present) and the dynamic range wasn't very pronounced. Still, the vocals were clearly heard and the passionate moaning of Lauren was nice to hear.

Body of Review: There are few who could argue that superstar Lauren Phoenix was anything less than one of the top performers in the adult entertainment world over the last few years. It doesn't matter which company she worked for, she managed to prove that a gal with natural breasts and a fleshy ass could propel herself to the top on sheer talent alone without a contract. I first met her signing for Hustler at the AEE show awhile back so it makes sense that Hustler Video released their first compilation of the young hotty last month titled, Phoenix Rising: The Very Best of Lauren Phoenix. There were seven scenes altogether (including the bonus scene) and one of the best things about the DVD was that Hustler added one of the scenes from VCA. I hope they continue this trend and start including scenes from Vivid as well (if not make deals with other companies once in awhile) but regardless of this fact, Lauren looked her best as a young starlet trying to bust her way into porn with some energetic, passionate, scenes. Here's a quick breakdown of those scenes to give you an idea of what took place, along with some background data to let you know where they came from:

Summary: Phoenix Rising: The Very Best of Lauren Phoenix was worth a rating of Recommended from me due to the way the scenes worked collectively as a showcase for the lovely young Lauren Phoenix. While she has made a number of increasingly extreme scenes in recent months, none have the freshness this collection provided for the viewer. In terms of Phoenix "fuck for the buck", you won't likely find anything else on the market as solid as this collection so if you're a fan, disregard the terrible picture of her on the front DVD cover and scoop this one up.
