Extra's: I enjoyed the nearly 40 minute long Behind the Scenes feature by Brother Love the most since it had the performers having fun getting ready and/or having sex the most. Others will enjoy the 22 minute bonus scene from Bigg Z and the Beauties 10 between Missy Monroe and Mr. Bigg but it had no anal and was therefore out of place in an anal themed release. The other extras included a pop shot compilation from the scenes, a photogallery, some trailers and a double sided DVD cover. In all, except for the bonus scene being fairly lame (thematically wise if nothing else), it was a nice package of extras to enjoy.

Audio/Video Quality: Anal Retentive 4 was presented in the same1.85:1 ratio non anamorphic widescreen color that it was originally shot in by director Axel Braun (although a few scenes looked cropped). I think it looked better than Volume 1 as it had accurate colors, only a bit of grain, and the same lighting problems I noticed before. The DVD mastering appeared to cover the bases nicely and there were few compression artifacts to bug me this time so I have to applaud Axel Braun for improving his work. The audio was presented in a minimal stereo English track that had the same limitations as the last volume (limited separation, hardly any dynamic range, and a hollow quality to it) but that's something Axel can work on in future volumes.

Body of Review: A long time ago, at an apartment far away, I remember reviewing Anal Retentive Volume 1 to some minimal fanfare. I liked the show and found the DVD well worth dropping some hard earned cash on as it had some of the very best anal queens doing what they do best. Director Axel Braun, one of the leading directors at Digital Sin, has reportedly improved his work since that time and I snagged a slightly older title, Anal Retentive 4, since the cast seemed so promising. I found a lot to like here too and if you like anal antics as much as most fans these days, you'll want to read the following breakdown of the scenes by cast:

Scene One: Cytherea, the current pissing (some say squirting) queen, the lovely Isabel, and porn stud Pete, were up first in a scene on a couch in a typical living room. The gals did a lot of oral and vaginal sex with some great energy but there was little anal (Yay Isabel!) compared to what I'd expect with a tile like this one. Cytherea did her pissing act and there was some rimming of Pete as well as the gals so I can safely say that the scene had some entertainment value, even if it wasn't the best I've seen of these three (in separate scenes though).

Scene Two: Katja Kassin, the reigning anal queen in porn, was up next in a scene with Joachim. Her fishnet blue top, short plaid skirt and sweet fishnet stockings all accentuated her curvy loveliness as she gave her best in this interracial scene. From the moment she sucked his dick to the slamming anal with all the taste testing in between, I never thought she was there solely to earn a check. I might be a slavering fanboy to her talents and looks but at least I'm a discerning slavering fanboy since she really shined compared to the other gals here. It wasn't her best work to date but her fans are going to want this scene for all of its energy, passion, and heat.

Scene Three: Melissa, the blonde on the front DVD cover that has also been making a name for herself in the anal world, was up next in a machine shop with Ben and Pete. She was looking for some wood so they gave her their own, in a rougher than average scene that included some gagging oral and DP with all the trimmings. Some of you will enjoy the way they appeared to take her against her will but she seemed quite happy with taking them on in any way they saw fit. While not as much fun as Katja Kassin's scene, it had more raw energy for fans of the rough stuff as well as some swallowing.

Scene Four: Lyla, the sole Asian gal of the flick and a cutie besides, took care of Zenza on a couch. This scene was amusing on a couple of levels, not least of which was how she asked him what he liked before sucking him off like a champion. Her oral skills never fail to impress me since she's so tiny but fans like her just as much for her ability to milk out a load with her curvy little ass. I thought it a bit weird how she ended up with her panties jammed into her mouth but at least Axel's trying something new from time to time.

Scene Five: Cristina, a cute brunette looking for a sugar daddy, sat in Pete's lap while they were making out on a couch. They shared a little small talk too as the action began with her sucking him off handily. She reminded me of Taylor Rain with a slightly better body and less of the goofiness Taylor brings to porn and her energy levels were pretty good here. Fans of all natural women will enjoy watching her although the rough act of Pete on her didn't really come off as well as elsewhere. She did do anal though so at least that was handled properly.

Summary: Anal Retentive 4 wasn't the best show I've seen from director Axel Braun but it was worth a rating of Recommended for fans of the cast and/or anal sex. There were definitely some rough edges to the editing and sex scenes but the technical matters were improved on and the widescreen display seemed to make it look even better than it would've otherwise managed as a full frame showing. My rating was based in large part on the amount of fuck for the buck but with the scenes turned in by Katja and Melissa being so hot and such a great BTS feature, I nearly gave it an even higher rating. In all, it was a lot of fun for whatever limitations it had and I just wish the front DVD cover included a picture of some of the other gals (especially Katja) so you'd see what they looked like.
