Extra's: There were some decent extras on the DVD, the first of which was a 5.5 minute long Behind the Scenes feature. While it was too short, it had some funny moments to enjoy. I also liked the short "solo" scenes (although one scene had two gals going at one another) since the gals seemed pretty natural enjoying themselves. There was also a photogallery, some trailers, and a compilation of five of the pop shots (since one scene was a lesbian scene, they left it off).

Audio/Video Quality: Girl Play was presented in the usual 1.33:1 ratio full frame color as shot by veteran director Kat Slater. The production looked less pleasant than her work for Hustler, in large part due to a low budget looking picture. The colors were fairly accurate but the lighting was sometimes weak and the levels of grain were very high; making it a show that didn't visually work as well as it should have. The DVD also displayed a lot of compression artifacts so while it wasn't the worst DVD I've watched lately; it wasn't in the top 50% either in terms of visual presentation. The audio was presented in 2.0 stereo PCM (pulse code modulated) rather than the better Dolby Digital. While most of the moaning could be heard just fine, the audio had a lack of dynamic range and no separation, with the vocals often sounding hollow to me.

Body of Review: As lesbian porn returns with a vengeance, shows like Big Toys No Boys, WTBA 16, Girl Crazy , My Ass Is Haunted, The Connasseur, and Evil Pink, have proven the success of the genre. Another new way to introduce some lesbian tricks into a movie are to start off with it but then change gears and move onto more conventional sex acts with a man. This was the case with DVSX's latest movie, Girl Play; a series of six vignettes that all began with a tease, masturbation, a POV lesbian act, and then some meat (in all but one case at least). With a cast of cuties well worth looking for, here's a breakdown of the scenes of the movie:

Scene One: Jassie, the lean brunette featured in the middle of the front DVD cover, was up first as she stripped and masturbated as well as played with director Kat Slater (in point of view fashion), a bit on a bed. Her full fledged partner of the scene was Kris Slater; no relation to the director IIRC. Jassie gave him a nice blowjob, using her hands (at times) and mouth (as well as some assistance from Kat). He reciprocated by boning her pretty hard in the pussy and she did do some taste testing but this wasn't her most energetic scene. Still, she looked to be having fun and I enjoyed watching it.

Scene Two: Marie Luv, the light skinned black gal found on the lower left hand side of the front DVD cover, followed the tease formula as she warmed up in the living room before Kat Slater, joined her for some fingering fun. Talon, the studly meat puppet, was her actual partner and she seemed to really enjoy working with him a lot as she took him in her mouth playfully. The positions they could achieve on the couch were limited though so he went down on her before getting ready to bone her pussy (and ass) silly. In the end, she ATM'ed him clean and swallowed his load down easily but showed some real passion and chemistry while doing so.

Scene Three: Roxy Rare, a curvy brunette that wasn't displayed on the front DVD cover (for no good reason I might add), followed the formulaic approach and teased with some solo footage before being joined by attractive Keira on the couch. Kat Slater, was lucky enough to get a little oral action from the gals in point of view fashion before Mason joined them. The sex included vaginal and anal with a lot of passion and chemistry so this was a very well done scene. I liked the manner in which the cast seemed to have fun together, making it one of the best scenes of the movie.

Scene Four: Kelly Kline, the hotty on the upper right hand side of the front DVD cover, continued to offer the same striptease and masturbation action as the other gals but admittedly looked better than most of them while doing so. I'd have licked the leather couch clean after she did so and Kat Slater seemed as attracted to her as I was, even doing some foot licking action. After the usual lesbian POV stuff, Kelly was joined by studly Pascal St. James who really gave her a workout. The oral action wasn't bad but she seemed to relish the slamming hard screwing he gave her and so did I. She did some PTM along the way and ended by taking the pop shot to her chest.

Scene Five: Karen, the lean blonde on the lower right hand side of the front DVD cover, had something special as she followed the routine. Perhaps it was her long blonde locks or maybe it was the manner in which she seemed perfectly suited for this kind of scene but I sported wood very early into this scene as I'm sure most guys would have done. Her smile alone was enough to give me some pre-cum but when she was joined by the lovely Kelle Marie; I was in Heaven! After a bit of lesbian action together, Kat Slater joined them a bit and the licking, rubbing, and other action was very nicely done. I only wish it had lasted longer.

Scene Six: MacKenzie Lee, the brunette in the upper left hand side of the front DVD cover, was up last in a scene that stuck with the general formula. She had the largest breasts of the entire cast (fake or not) and some sultry moves that also set me off a bit. Her near perfect ass was the best of the cast and the way in which she was grinding it was hot! Kat Slater gave her a little play but it wasn't until "Guy" and another unnamed meat puppet joined them that the scene really took off. The sex included vaginal, anal, and a DP with taste testing (PTM and ATM) with some massive loads to her throat that Kat fed her. Whew!

Summary: Girl Play was far from director Kat Slater's best movie but I'd be misleading you if I said I didn't think it was strong enough to warrant a rating of Recommended for the better quality scenes. Yeah, the visuals and audio could've used more polishing up but I thought the women looked great and there was a lot of fuck for the buck on hand to give lots of replay value to consumers. Now that Kat has taken over production for Hustler Video, I doubt she'll make a follow-up but I think she proved her success isn't solely the result of the usual Hustler team either; making this release one of the few she made elsewhere. Fans of the cast will likely think of this one as even better but it merited some attention so give it a look if you like some spice with your porn.
