Audio/Video Quality: A River Runs Through Her: The Very Best of Cytherea was presented in 1.33:1 ratio full frame color (for the most part with some scenes in a widescreen format), as the scenes were originally shot for their respective movies. The lighting was pretty solid in most cases (better fill lighting would've made it look better though) and the camera angles varied somewhat more than most compilations but the limited amount of grain helped make the visuals more appealing. The fleshtones were accurate and the editing not too bad with no noticed compression artifacts or video noise to mess up the picture. The stereo English audio track was notable for how plain it was with limited dynamic range and no significant separation between the channels but this is the case for most porn so I can't really fuss too loudly about it.

Body of Review: One of the more interesting compilations these days are the Hustler's Best of series that each focus on a particular gal that has made a number of movies with the expansive porn giant. One of the only limitations I've seen of the series has been the lack of scenes from Hustler's other subsidiaries (which has been addressed at least once in the recent past); VCA and Vivid. If the series continues to expand, I'd really like to see scenes from all three companies on the same DVD with my ultimate goal being even more companies licensing scenes with stars to make some really great compilations. That said, today's volume is A River Runs Through Her: The Very Best of Cytherea, a collection of works by the pissing queen herself; Cytherea. While she'll defend her technique as "squirting" against any and all scientific proof, the bottom line is that fans of this kind of action have long appreciated her ability to take a leak during sex and dousing her partners handily. If you want to see a lot of the gal in action, this DVD is a good choice so here's a look at the scenes by cast and what movie they're from:

Scene One: Callgirls Undercover: Cytherea, sporting dark hair and her usual lean body, was paid to have sex with average Kyle Stone and black Sylvo on a bed in a small hotel room. They took turns boning her and getting oral with no anal or DP to show for it but her vocal moaning was nice and she did show some nice energy in parts of the scene. In the end, they glazed her face something fierce but it wasn't her best scene for Hustler.

Scene Two: Barely Legal Ski Camp: Here's what I said when I first saw it, and I stand by my original assessment: "Cytherea, the most established gal of the show (who made repeated references to the other barely legal movies she's been in), had a scene with Joey Ray in the room with the fireplace. She was the sexual aggressor here (shown on the second spot down on the right hand side of the front DVD cover) and her over-the-top performance was as solid as ever (you'll either love her or hate her, depending on how much you like her normal act) as she blew him like a seasoned professional. He was no slouch in the oral department either and gave as good as he got before the two boned in a few positions to get her off. Her squirt routine wasn't caught on camera very well here (it looked even more like pissing than usual) but I give her credit for not acting like she was positioned every five minutes (a porn norm these days)."

Scene Three: Barely Legal 40: "Cytheria, the lean little hotty with the beautiful face, and Mark Ashley, had a scene on her bed. She was as fun to watch as always, taking him on like a demon, and both had a lot of fun. She squirted all over the bed while he was doing her (I'm on the fence about whether or not squirting is the same thing as taking a piss) and it ended with a facial. Yum!"

Scene Four: Hot Showers 12: Cytherea, still with her usual dark hair, had a scene outside with beautiful blonde Fallon Summers as they washed the family car outside. Both were dressed in small tops and shorts but they didn't stay on for long as the gals got all sudsy with one another. Within moments, they were washing each other more than the car and the tongue bath they gave each other was hot. There was also a 69 and except for the pimples on Cytherea's ass, they looked good together.

Scene Five: Barely Legal Summer Camp 1: "Cytherea, the attractive squirting queen, and Ben Bratt, had a scene at night in a dark tent. She blew him, he returned the favor and then the two boned for a few minutes before she sprayed out a huge load (and he rubbed his much smaller load onto her face). It was good but during the beginning, the lighting was almost nonexistent and that's a pain."

Scene Six: Real College Girls 11: Cytherea, already in bed with a loose black dress on, Emily DaVinci, the redheaded punk rocker looking gal, and anonymous Mr. X had a scene while Ander Paige and her crew filmed the trio going at it for this series. I've never really believed the series was all that great because it usually seems made up and the more they go to prove the authenticity of the casts "college status", the less I believe it exists. The sex was oral, lesbian and straight with Emily taking the majority of the facial. In terms of energy and passion, it wasn't the best of the DVD but Emily has done far worse so take that as a plus.

Scene Seven: Barely Legal Summer Camp 2: "Cytherea, everyone's favorite squirt queen located on the center of the front DVD cover with the cowboy hat on, Tiana Lynn, the very lean brunette on the far left side of the cover, and good old Billy Glide, were up next as he taught the gals about putting balls in holes. They started off with some lesbian action and he joined them within seconds as they orally satisfied one another to warm up. It wasn't the best scene I've watched with these three but they did look good together. It ended when he jerked off onto his own abdomen."

Bonus Scene: Masturbation Mania: Here's what I said when I first reviewed this scene: "Cytherea, the well known "squirt" queen (on the lower left hand side of the front DVD cover) and Tiana Lynn, a lean, attractive brunette, shared the first scene. Already, the movie deviated from advertised premise by showing a lesbian scene. I like such scenes but I'd have rather seen them separately this time. In any case, they did all the usual licking and sticking (toy play) with Cytherea doing her urinating trick for the camera."

Summary: A River Runs Through Her: The Very Best of Cytherea could reasonably be argued as having the best scenes of Cytherea from Hustler so I'm going to rate it as Recommended. With some minor improvements, the series could be fantastic but even now they manage to provide a solid fuck for the buck value if you like the gal featured. The technical aspects and bonus scene also helped make it a good buy for fans of Cytherea (sometimes called "Cytheria") and I hold a lot of promise in the future of the series given what I've seen to date. If you don't like her work though, you'll want to skip this release since she's the lead in every scene but you'd probably already figured that out by the title, yes?
