Extra's: The best extra for me was the 9.5 minute long Behind the Scenes feature by Zora Banx that showed some of the cast and crew at work. There was also the usual selection of trailers, cast biographies, production notes, photogalleries, and a double-sided DVD cover.

Audio/Video Quality: The Cult: Pirate Fetish Machine 17 was presented in the usual 1.33:1 ratio full frame color it was shot in by director Frank Thring for Private. The colors were very accurate, the lighting solid even in the darker scenes, and the amount of grain negligible to my reviewer's eye. There were no compression artifacts or video noise to speak of and only a touch of moiré entered the picture in a couple of scenes. The stereo audio was presented in the usual manner, with lots of audio languages to pick from, and had an okay dynamic range even if it had little separation between the channels.

Body of Review: If you've ever longer for something a bit different, a bit out of the ordinary, a bit strange, you've probably been searching for a title in the Private series, Pirate Fetish Machine. The series features minor plots that give the company's directors a framework to offer a lot of gals in fetish attire, the chance to receive some bonage in their private areas, including anal cavities. The last one I watched was Volume 15 so this jump ahead to The Cult: Pirate Fetish Machine 17 seemed like I might enjoy the premise. The story was about a young (and hot looking) investigative reporter played by Victoria Swinger that is assigned a murder mystery by her editor, Frank Thring (the director of the movie). The story elements were light and the non-sex footage kind of silly but the cast had a lot of hotties besides Victoria and less of a formulaic approach than Frank's usual works so you may enjoy it a bit. Here's a quick look at the scenes, noting that no condoms were used and no cast identifications were made in the production notes or film credits:

Scene One: Carina, a very attractive gal with blondish hair, began the show by blowing three guys in an almost POV fashion. We never see their faces and she took a lot of facial cream here as she playfully sucked them off in a close up shot. It wasn't a bad way to start the show since it left me wanting a whole lot more.

Scene Two: Victoria Swinger, the lead female performer of the show, was also the lead actress of the show, playing an investigative reporter trying to solve a murder mystery tied to a sex cult. This scene was lame in the sense that it was only a bathtub solo scene where she masturbated a bit but I'd be misleading you if I said it didn't get me, the jaded old porn reviewer, hard. Private is not exactly known for taking chances like this, typically going right into DP and harder sex without a thought, but the tease footage was appreciated.

Scene Three: Liz Honey, Bianca, Carina, Vera, and two guys made up the cast of the next sex scene. Liz was the primary pussy (so to speak) of the scene here as she sat back while her male minions serviced her orally but the lesbian tryst was fun too. Liz performed energetically and with a bit more heart than most of her fellow performers (in the whole movie, not just this scene) and some more effort on the part of Frank in directing it would've gone a long way to keep it from looking as cheesy as it did. I did like the fetish attire though and fans will likely feel the same, given the look of the cast inside their uniforms.

Scene Four: Victoria Swinger, barely wearing a hot dress and high heels, was corralled into a garage by Frank Gun and another guy (wearing pantyhose over their heads but I think it was Mike Foster) after they nearly ran her down in an alleyway. I liked seeing her perfect little body in the skintight dress but she really managed to work them over sexually (initially slobbing both their knobs at once) with them giving her some serious boning in return. While she wasn't as passionate about the anal, she took it and the DP well enough for my tastes with some massive loads at the end of the action. It was messy, dirty, and nasty; the way many of you like porn.

Scene Five: Andy Brown, a lean brunette wearing some tiny red scraps of cloth with her red fetish boots as she blew a masked guy in an all white room. I'd have loved to be the thong riding up her sweetly curved ass as she bathed in the sweat of the action this time. She seemed a tad more aggressive than most of her colleagues but there was little chemistry here since it seemed to revolve around trying to get off as efficiently as possible. Once she got used to the facial, she looked to be having more fun but otherwise it was a decent scene here too.

Scene Six: Melissa Black and Victoria Swinger, took the lead here in another orgy scene in the modest little basement while two guys offered up their services and what appeared to be most of the rest of the cast either watching or getting a little action on the side. It wasn't well scripted and while the outfits will certainly appeal to aficionados of the fetish apparel industry, the sex was mechanical and kind of tame on most levels. Frank's repeat cameo was kind of goofy too, especially once he gave up the satanic ending of the show.

Summary: The Cult: Pirate Fetish Machine 17 was another release in the series worth a rating of Rent It. While the cast was attractive (at least the gals were), the action more mixed than I prefer, the settings kind of minimal for this type of feature, and the amount of dedicated fetish attire okay, it lacked the chemistry and passion in most cases to get me to stand up and take notice. I know Empire has it on sale at this writing but you're really going to have to love the cast wearing rubber and latex with little regard for the bone-drilling sex seen on other Private releases to pick this one up for keeps.
