Extra's: The extras were actually lesser in this updated version in order to make room for the extra scenes (a trade off I'm sure most of you can live with). They included trailers, a photogallery, and commercial for Lex's Playboy TV show, with the double sided DVD cover (the second side being strictly advertising for other releases though).

Audio/Video Quality: Top Guns: Collector's Edition was presented in the usual 1.33:1 ratio full frame color as originally shot by Lexington Steele (and apparently some others not closely under his supervision) for Mercenary Pictures. The older scenes, listed here as numbers 1, 2, 5,6,10 and 11; were not as well done as more recent scenes from Mercenary Pictures. Each of them had some minor lighting, grain, and compositional issues that got in the way (at times) of the heat. Sadly, the newer scenes were even worse in some ways, something I completely didn't expect (scenes 3 and 9 were the worst, not just because they were oral only but the way they looked like an amateur shot them with a home camera: too much movement, weak angles, and a lack of esthetics). I hope other updated releases are better than this one since the company has released some really hot titles of late (see my reviews) with better visuals and value to boot. The audio was presented in stereo English with little separation or dynamic range, with some interviews drowned out by the droning music track. Please work on a better balance between the vocals and music or simply drop the music altogether (maybe provide a second audio track like your old coworkers at Anabolic do).

Body of Review: For a number of years, folks looking for quality interracial titles were stuck with the hit or miss releases of some of the big companies or the crud put on the market by the bottom tier producers with little made showcasing decent budgets. As the number of vocal fans grew in numbers (now there are legions of us), companies started to listen but not fast enough for most of us. A handful of people took this situation in their own hands and Lexington Steele was one who seemed most able to fix years of neglect in the system. After directing for various companies and always finding his vision short circuited by budgets, distribution problems, and other behind the scenes dramas, he eventually formed Mercenary Pictures. The initial releases for the company were with Red Light District but Lex decided to go it alone and left behind such hits as Top Guns, a fun, if flawed, fuck flick. Well, now has come the time that Lexington has made the move to re-release some of his older works but updated them to add more sex footage and the first such movie is Top Guns: Collector's Edition. Unlike most porn "collector editions", this one is a truly updated version with several added scenes, not just a fancy new package. Sadly, the quality of the new material is far below that of Lex's newest titles like Top Guns 2, so your mileage will vary as to the value of the update. Here's a look at the new version, noting that no condoms were used:

Scene One: "Ashley Long and Angel Long, both tall blondes from England and very attractive, took on Lexington Steele in a variety of positions after warming up with each other (in fetish gear). Very hot action by the crew here. If you want anal, they'll show you how it's done. Yum!"

Scene Two: Christina, a brunette cutie with a couple of extra pounds on her lovely frame, started off her scene by giving an interview that I couldn't hear over the music. She had an all natural body that looked good as she warmed up with a vibrator in her leopard print panties on the couch, driving Leslie Taylor and Lexington Steele crazy with desire as she got wet for them. They soon joined her, each taking a different end as they got oral, vaginal and anal pleasure from the gal. She had a lot of spunk (milking out splunk) and passion in her scene but I think the chemistry she had was for Leslie. She did some taste testing as well as a DP before they jerked out large loads onto her face in this good scene.

Scene Three: Daphne Rosen, a brown haired gal with an average face but a dirty mouth, started off the next new scene wearing a red negligee on a couch that made her legs and ass look huge. She didn't give much of an interview as she immediately went to sucking off her partner as though it were made of chocolate. She spit on it to lubricate it for a nice titty fuck and went into a 69 position but it ended after he blew his load into her mouth. The scene was apparently made for the Iron Head series as she stated such at the end of the action.

Scene Four: Maria, a chunky redhead with a large ass wearing a fishnet body stocking, was up next on the couch. She masturbated a bit and was soon joined by Zenza Raggi, blowing him with a little bit of energy but not as much as some of the other gals in the show. He skipped the vaginal to slam his penis deep inside her ass but she didn't appear too happy about it until he eventually broke her in. She did some ATM with the facial and that was all she wrote this time. Fans of gapes will appreciate her abilities and the camera work was almost handled in a POV fashion (she even did a small bit of vaginal at the end this way) but her moans were painful to listen to.

Scene Five: "Anna Nova, a cutie from Germany, and Erik Everhard, the Canadian woodsman, had a solid scene together. Where the last scene showed a couple of lean and tall babes, Anna had all the right curves with an ass to die for. Her outfit, much like the others in the show, was fetish oriented that made me warm just thinking about it."

Scene Six: "Carmen, always a hotty, and Toni Ribas, did the deed (and each other) after she paraded her nearly perfect ass by the staircase. Sweet action with a sweet looking gal." I loved the way the white lingerie accentuated her figure as much as the way she handled the anal action.

Scene Seven: Natalie, an older redhead with some attitude and a curvy body covered in sexy black lingerie, was up next as she teased the camera in a plain living room. Her partner was British stud Omar, and the contrast between the two worked pretty well as she seemed to like dark meat and his attention. Zenza Raggi also joined them in order to round out the scene so the two men could fully explore her body as they saw fit. I'm going to be upfront and let you know that she had more potential for heat that she showed since she appeared to barely hold on while they did all the work (from the oral to the vaginal sex). She never went as far as you would think she should (her backdoor remained closed) and the scene seemed like a filler to me.

Scene Eight: Pam, a black gal wearing red lingerie that didn't do anything for her, suffered from droopy tit syndrome and I predict they'll be hitting her knees well before I stop watching porn, began by oiling them up and teasing the camera. Her ass looked much better but I've seen white gals with better booties than this so I wasn't expecting a whole lot from the scene. She got lucky and partnered up with Lexington Steele himself; essentially the best woodman of the show. She then surprised me by riding him pretty energetically in a few positions and giving him a flabby titty fuck that looked like loads of fun. The scene was done in POV fashion (probably for the Pole Position series) and Lex came twice this time.

Scene Nine: Nomi, a blonde with a lean body and pretty eyes, was up next as she masturbated on a furry couch. She was joined by another uncredited guy (I've watched thousands of pornos and he didn't look familiar either) and the two did some oral on one another that seemed on the low end of competent in terms of how it was shot (has Lex started farming out his scenes?) and this scene was also oral only; perhaps part of a weaker oral series that doesn't use Lexington as much. Yawn!

Scene Ten: Here's what I originally said about the scene: "India, looking tight in her leather outfit, and Leslie, had a scene on the couch. This scene wasn't as passionate as the last two but it had a slow erotic burn and still kept the anal hardcore."

Scene Eleven: "Devin, an exotic looking babe with great curves and a dirty mouth, and Lex, had a scene after her tease sequence. Not as warm as some of the other scenes but I hope she comes back for seconds. This was probably the shortest scene of the show and maybe that's why it suffered by comparison."

Summary: Top Guns: Collector's Edition was not as solid a hit as I would've liked I to be and I'm going to keep my rating as Recommended rather than adjust it for the new material. The original scenes looked the same to me (I'd compare them frame by frame but the extra effort doesn't seem worth it when they looked so similar) and some of the newest ones were turkeys. Maybe if more was done with the sex show footage taken at the 2004 Erotci Show in Zurich (even then, most of the crowd seemed bored or at best, pleasantly amused), better extras (not losing some of the older ones that I liked), or just improved the technical matters, I'd be more willing to boost this one up on my shoulders as I originally wanted to but even the dark prince can stumble I suppose. Don't get me wrong; it's not a bad movie, it just didn't add a lot of value in this newer version so if you have the old one, I simply can't recommend it as a double dip but if you don't have it, this version will probably be a better one for you to enjoy.
