Extra's: My favorite extra was a nearly 11 minute long Behind the Scenes feature where the gals had a chance to show off their goodies and talk to Mr. Pete. The biggest problem I had with it was that only a couple of gals were up at bat here, something that relegates the others to second class status. There was also a slide show, some trailers and commercials but I wasn't expecting a whole lot of extras (and didn't get them).

Audio/Video Quality: Bitches In Heat was presented in the same 1.33:1 ratio full frame color it was shot in by director Mr. Pete for Hustler Video. The colors were often slightly muted here and the camera angles not always complimentary (zooming in on stretch marks and implant scars is a big no-no folks!) but I thought the overall visual aspects were fairly positive other than that. I saw a few instances of Pete adjusting the color balance on the fly and the lighting could've used some more planning but it looked better than a few of Pete's other releases for other companies so I think it's safe to say that he's improving his craft. The stereo 2.0 English audio was basic in most ways with little separation or dynamic range but I could usually hear the vocals well enough to add some heat in the scenes.

Body of Review: Lesbian movies seem to be coming back into vogue these days with the plethora of pussy they offer. This is stark contrast to the dearth of lesbian releases, at least by the better known companies, of recent years but the upswing in popularity probably has numerous reasons behind it. Movies like WTBA 16, Girl Crazy 5, and My Ass Is Haunted are bet a few examples of this trend, each having their own focus but maintaining the belief that watching hot, nasty gals engaged in lesbian sex is a great way to spend a few hours. Today's review is of a little movie made for Hustler Video by the infamous Mr. Pete, a man of varied talents, called Bitches In Heat. The movie is no relation to the series released by Colossal Entertainment (Bitches in Heat 2) but has some merit on its own. Essentially a formulaic driven series of lesbian vignettes, the show gave Mr. Pete a chance to get real close and personal with a number of gals and watch as they did one another in his presence (which would drive me crazy mind you). That said, here's a brief look at what those scenes had to offer:

Scene One: Renee Richards, a British brunette in her early 20's, and blonde Barbara Summer, were up first in a scene on a couch after each masturbated to warm up. The gals were located on the upper left hand corner of the front DVD cover with Renee in the neon pink fishnet top. Pete tried to join them but was rejected by this foreign combo (Barbara is from Prague) as they teased him while getting each other off soundly. Barbara had a large glass dildo up her ass and Renee took over orally as the pair went at it with some ATM and other toy use. I didn't like Barbara's implant scars but the gals used dirty talk and had curvy bodies worth watching in action so the licking and sticking provided a good, if somewhat mechanical, show.

Scene Two: Kayla Paige, Persia, and Alexis Malone, were up next as they teased the camera a bit before ending up upstairs on a couch playing with one another. I liked the fishnet body stockings two of them wore but found the camera work distracting as it looked like Pete was attempting to correct for the lighting on the fly (this is usually edited out or done before starting to record a scene). Once that settled down, the action appeared pleasant to me as each gal had her own strengths to bring to the mix. They followed the same general theme of rubbing, licking, toys and getting each other off with my observation being that they liked working together (and with women in general). The mixture of tan and milky white, curvy and lean, and brunette and blonde allowed a study of contrasts to be had here with the resulting effect felt in my crotch as it stirred more than a little bit as the gals did the deed. There was no lesbian anal this time but I doubt fans will mind this fact given the amount of energy they displayed. It ended with Pete getting a little head but that was a pretty tame aspect of the scene by comparison.

Scene Three: Cherokee, the curvy brunette MILF that's been in porn for the last few years (she's the short, muscular gal with the squeaky voice), and bleached blonde Brooke Haven, were up next on a couch. Cherokee's black fishnet outfit enhanced her already sweet looking body just as Brooke's neon pink bathing suit seemed to work well on her. I've seen both in action and while Cherokee is a personal favorite of mine, Brooke was no slouch here as she verbally guided her friend in the ways it took to get her off. There were toys employed here too but they weren't the focal point as in some of the other scenes, something I found to be a refreshing change in most ways.

Scene Four: Brandi Lyons, a dark haired cutie with long legs and a willing smile, was up next with partner Taylor Kurtis, a bleached blonde I don't recall seeing before. I liked Taylor's red fishnet top with black matching bra and panties more than Brandi's white top and similar undies but each was equally talented in terms of enjoying a woman's body. Sadly, they appeared to go through the motions in my opinion and the emphasis on toys over tongues weakened an already borderline scene. Part of the problem was the over the top vocals that sounded canned and part of the problem was how they seemed to be spending much of their time looking at the camera, a fact that tells me they were performing rather than truly enjoying the action.

Scene Five: Austin Kincaid and Loni, a couple of very attractive brunettes wearing netted tops and hot undies (you just gotta love red PVC shorts too), were up last in a scene that worked better than the others on several levels. The gals seemed to be into the action (real or fake, the point is that they were convincing) from the kissing and other foreplay to the muff diving, to the use of varied toys on the staircase. They managed to give me the impression that they were often in the throws of rapture and there as much to get off as they were to collect a paycheck (which couldn't be said for some of the other scenes).

Summary: Bitches In Heat wasn't the best lesbian release I've seen this year due to some uneven scenes but it was good enough to earn a rating of Rent It (and I'm not a slavering fanboy of the cast so that speaks volumes for those of you interested in one or more of the cast). The extras were weaker than Hustler usually provides and the technical values were definitely in need of some polishing up but I'd be misleading you if I said it looked terrible. In all, it was worth a look to see if it had lots of personal replay value for you but other than a couple of scenes, I wasn't particularly impressed at the action given the manner in which several companies have been stepping up to the plate these days.
